Slightly - but less per capita income in the region though - Rockville and the other outlying cities are some of the wealthiest parts of the nation. Maryland is the single highest income per capita states largely because of the population immediately outside of DC.

We're more than just a "people demographic" in the DC metro area.

I know, just making sure you understood there was some huge rifts between Indy and the other places though, even if "population" was the wrong term - I would hope no one honestly thinks a city of nearly 1m is "Bumfuck, Egypt". (But sometimes hopes are naive)

I guess I'm weird then?

It helps me keep track of which controller is charged easier. I can remember if I used a red one all week instead of the black one, which to me easier than figuring out which black one needs to be charged. I can't just plug in the controller when it's off and have it charge like on the 360. I don't like keeping it on stand by for prolonged periods of time either. I'm also kind of lazy sometimes.

PS4 can charge in standby - or you can buy a wall socket USB charger and charge it off a wall socket. I've not charged my PS4 controller off the system to date since my entertainment center is inconvenient to go into every time I want to charge and impossible to play from while hooked up since the couch is a good 15 ft or so back. (And if you use their cable the charge light will even operate properly - with others it doesn't go orange while charging for me though - not sure why though might just be shitty cables)

But for PS3 where it was annoying, that's what a PTouch machine was for. Black Controllers both have a numbered piece of tape on them. (Wife's are colored though)

Xbox One disc-free console analyst weighs in on rumor | VG247

Last night, a rumor surfaced that Microsoft was preparing to release a white 1TB Xbox One at retail, without a disc drive. Today, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has called the idea "dumb, dumb, dumb," yet has also dismissed it as a complete rumor.

Speaking in an industry note, Pachter said if even true in the slightest, it would alienate not only retailer customers, but comsumers as well.

"If this rumor is true, it is one of the dumbest ideas of all time," he said. "It would alienate GameStop and other retailers, and it would demonstrate that Microsoft can afford to release a 1TB Xbox One at $399 with essentially the same production cost as the $499 model with a 500GB HDD and a Blu-ray drive.

"That would likely cause gamers to believe that the model with a Blu-ray drive is overpriced, or would cause them to believe that Microsoft is greedy.

"I have three words for this idea-dumb, dumb, dumb."

Pachter said he respects the people at Microsoft "immensely" and that they are "far from dumb."

"I don't actually believe the rumor," he stated.

Rumors of the console were posted on both The Verge and NeoGAF last night, with the later's source stating the console could launch as soon as October.

They forget to mention that the xbox comes with the kinect, and the early rumors is that the new one would not have the Kinect.
You absolutely do not need to use the Kinect on anything on the Xbox one.

If they charge 399 for a totally digital ,and kinectless xbox one I'm sure alllot of people will still pick that up.
If that version was out now I would get the discless, and Kinectless one.

Not to mention they are taking all trade ins for 360s and PS3s. So trade in a 360 get 100 off which would make it 299.

Not really, Amazon would just pick up the slack with digital sales, and they would still have 2 different versions of the Xbox one out.

No one really cares about gamestop, it should have died off years ago.

If it doesn't have Kinect, what is the point? It would lose its only unique feature, voice commands and the snap stuff.

Barely anyone uses that shit, its a novelty.
Snap still works with a controller. It's just metro

You can still get it if you want to pay extra, just like Sony makes you pay for there version of Kinect.

It would be a streamlined gaming machine versus an entertainment center with Blueray, Kinect etc..

Going all digital is a death sentence for consoles. Retail is *way* too important for sales and will be for quite some time. We are not even remotely close to the point where you can cut retail out.

Also you have no clue on that because no one has ever attempted it. Seems to work fine for PC's. In fact it has almost killed box sales off completely.

MS has said many times they want to be Steam so why not take it to the consoles.

It's a good move on their part to release a SKU without kinect. $500 with kinect pretty much limits their market to die hard xbox fans and ignorant parents.

I do know becausemultiple analysts have said so. The current internet infrastructure just does not support an all digital platform for far too many of the current console user base. Retail is still the biggest numbers and will be for quite some time. The console audience is not the same as the PC audience.

Also, cutting out the Blu-ray drive and dropping the price $100 would be hilarious. That drive isn't even close to $100 in cost. They'd be far better off cutting Kinect out and dropping the price. A disc drive is important, the Kinect is not. Either way though, they're sending pretty mixed messaging.

Ok lets go with that then haha, must be the same Analysts that said the Xbox one would fail, and MS would completely cut it out, and sell it
Its 100% untested because no one has done it yet. The consumer determines what works ,or not.

Xbox 360 had multiple SKU's and did fine.

And honestly if history proves itself people want all digital everything if you can give them lower prices.

PC box sales almost gone, and Renting movies in disc form is almost done as well.
You can see Redbox attempting to get out of that business as we speak.

Only thing holding back Redbox, and Netflix is the Studios. Once they agree, and can get a sizeable cut. It will be all digital with retail sales for blu rays, and 4k.
