The entire Vikings vs. Peterson thing has been about getting more money or a contract extension from the Vikings. Sources like his agent and father causing the controversy not Peterson himself, and a bunch of speculation from the media. I wouldn't buy into it, Peterson will play for the Vikings, and most likely end his career as a Viking. It has been a play by his agent this entire time.

Even if he does, why would you want a player who doesn't want to be there? The vikes are like a crazy ex at this point. "If i can just make her come back and listen to my excuses, She'll love me again and everything will be just like it used to be"
Organizations generally don't like players trying to pull strings. I remember the Palmer issue in Cinci where the organization forced him to retire to get out which is what he ended up doing.

Obviously they feel that they invested in him last season by paying him while he sat out 15 games. Your Cowboys thought they could low ball them for a trade, got AP and his agent all worked up and the Vikes told them to fuck off.

Zim laid it out for AP "you play for the Vikes or you don't play". AP has a choice let the last year of his legacy be the one where he was suspended and everyone looked down on him because AP = Abusive Parent, or come back and become the beast he wants to be remembered as. All the "but he can just come back and mail it in" morons have obviously never seen Adrian Peterson play football. That is not what he want to be remembered for, he is all about legacy. He will play for the Vikes and the Cowboy fans can keep on shitting in one hand and wishing in the other...

Now go wash your Goddamn hands.

I full expect the Cowboys to be a solid team this year because the components are all there. There is definitely no guarantee of that though. They would hardly be the first team that has the tools and does nothing with them.

At the end of the day it comes down to does he want 11+ million a year or 0 because those are AP's options.

Actually, I'm good going into the season with what we have and pray that Jerry doesn't do anything stupid in the meantime. Firmly in the camp that believes our O-line is awesomesauce and that, while we won't have an 1800 yard rusher this year, that McFadden, Randle, and Williams combined will meet or exceed last year's total rushing yards.

I wouldn't say no to AP but I've finally gotten around to trusting the front office to do what's best for the team and feel going out and getting him wouldn't follow that mantra.

Yeah, sorry guys. I can't really understand the perspective that the Vikings are the wrong here. Granted, I'm from Minnesota, but I don't really consider myself a homer as I'm generally very critical of our sports teams.

AP is just kind of a non issue all around. We could maybe contend for a wildcard with him, which would be cool, but we're still a couple years of Zimmer acquisitions before we see what this team can really do. So trade him? Sure, why not? Don't? Ok, I wouldn't mind seeing a more competitive team in the near future. Really it doesn't matter.

But the Vikings are being faggots? AP is under contract. It's certainly his right to hold out if he wants to, but it's also ours to tell him to fuck off. The faggotry here is him beating his child bloody then having his representation play an angle that Minnesota didn't have his back enough for him to want to play here anymore. He wasn't in any position to make a power play for the Cowboys. It would have been like Ray Rice demanding a trade off the Ravens had they not cut him. That's the shitty part of this whole situation.

Only other comment I take exception to is the "shit teams are shit" one. Vikings are like 8th all time in winning percentage. We're the ultimate gut punch franchise, as we've been close a lot and lose in spectacular fashion, but we're not the fucking Browns. Give us a little bit of a break on this terrible franchise idea.

If Stephen Jones/Will McClay/Garrett weren't willing to pay Murray $8/mil a year they sure as shit weren't trading for AP and his salary - maybe if he took a huge paycut but the Cowboys knew he wasn't going to do that. That's why the Cowboys didn't offer the Vikings anything for him - all the reports from the Draft say no team called about AP at all.

I'm sure Jerry would love AP, but he isn't making the real decisions any longer.

Peterson just posted a rant about players contracts on twitter about half an hour ago.

"I love people who think they know it all! Smh, Research how many NFL teams hasn't honored a player's contract & learn something."
"Question for the people, is a contract two sided or one?"
"Ok great two sided! Well why when one party decides ... Mr. ? we wan't you to take a pay cut now or better yet flat out release you!"
"There's never no talk about honoring a contract!"
"I know hundreds of player's that wished their team would've HONORED the contract! But instead got threw to the side like like trash."
"A lill crazy how one side has so much power that they can do as they please when it come to the contract! But when the other-side (player's)"
"Feels for whatever reason! Family, Change of scenery or simply - what they feels just might work best for them! Those same laws don't apply!"
"It's all about honoring you're contract! Sounds like free will is being a lil challenged to me!"
"All I'm saying as a Minnesota Viking player! WE need the same power to do as all 32 teams do we they feel, under contract or not!"
"It's time for a change! Then again I'm grateful because at the end of the day, I know some of those same guys that wish a team held on!"

Kevin Seifert response to the tweets sums it up pretty well "Fair message on one-sided NFL contracts, @AdrianPeterson. Probably not the best messenger."

I often side with the player and feel they should try and get what they can but not here. He is getting a big fat contract and needs to shut the hell up and not suck because he's old.

Dallas fans when Murray was hurt constantly and fumbling and playing like 5 games a year: "Just you wait til he's healthy! Best RB in the league, he'd start for every other team, when they focus on the running game he'll dominate!!!"

Dallas fans after Murray leads the NFL in rushing by 500 yards, plays 16 games, scores 13 touchdowns, and only fumbles 3 times in 400 carries, but just happens to leave the team: "Demarco is basically an asthmatic retarded gimp, the poorly reanimated corpse of Ron Dayne would rush for 2,300 yards behind this offensive line that is made up of granite titans and not mortal men!!!!"

That about cover it?

Beautiful thing about all of back and forth on Murry is we'll know soon enough if it was the line / team / system or if he is just beast.

Most people knew Murray would be pretty good, he showed enough flashes, but weren't convinced he could stay healthy. The latter part is still true. However, as good as he was last year, Dallas' run game ranked #1 in yards before contact (or maybe #2) which is a direct indicator of how good the O-line was. So some of the talk about it being mostly the O-line is true. I think it was a bunch of both.

Like Kedwyn says, we're about to see if Murray is really worth the money he got. Philly's run game was near the bottom of the league in yards before contact and they didn't do much to fix their O-line woes.

Kinda funny. The saints released their veteran kicker the day the league announced the pat change, when asked "do you like the idea of youth at kicker?", Sean Payton had this to say, "I like the idea of just a good kicker at that position whether he is young, I am not partial to his age, I am not partial to whether he is tall, short, fat, I like the idea of not having to worry about the new rule change at 15 yards. Hopefully we can see what we get from these two guys."

They're not. Peterson has wanted to be a Cowboy for a while and this was just his excuse to try and make that happen. While he's a beast and could possibly break the single season rushing record with this O-line, he's just not worth the cost, just like Murray wasn't. Murray slowed down later on in the season and his fumbling was a huge issue. His fumble on what would have been a break away TD against the Packers screwed them worse than the Dez bryant catch/no catch.

What we said was IF he could make it an entire season, we knew he'd put up good numbers. We just didn't want to say while he was a cowboy that he's a fumbler and injury prone because we didn't want to jinx him. It was in all of our heads though and we'd thwap anyone who said anything about it during a game. Kinda like how you're not supposed to ever say 7 at a craps table. Only the stick man is allowed to say it when it's rolled. This wasn't just because of an unlucky couple of years in the pros either, his college career was exactly the same. I have a friend who is an oklahoma fan and when we drafted murray, his comment was he'll be great if he can stay healthy. Supposedly it was an issue even in high school.

Truth be told, it was a relief to get rid of him. I was sick of worrying every snap that he's be hurt or fumble. Three fucking games in a row where he fumbled either on his first touch or on the first series. Did you see that? That's when I lost faith in murray. Because of that shit, there were times in the red zone where they opted to pass rather than risk another murray fumble.

At any rate, Peterson is just realizing that the team holds all the cards. None of the rest of his contract is guaranteed, even though that's a shitload of money. Of course, the Vikings are just as hamstrung here. Peterson won't sign a new contract, not unless it's fully guaranteed (which will never happen), but they can't just let someone like him go. So we're left with a pissing contest.
