rapoport tweeted bears have a three year deal with Gase for the oc position. Well looks like we won the off season staff putting together bowl when you look at things as a whole. Now to see if gase is actually good or a product of manning.

Man fuck that time slot. Fucking 6:30? Fuck you. This is America. I'm not looking to wake up at Premier League times.

Awesome. It's probably for the best anyways, Miami can't beat the Jets at home.

New renovations to Sun Life are just hilarious

This is what the canopy does for 1PM games.

He was with the staff last season as a TE coach. I highly doubt he had any input on the defense.

And he was the Defensive Coordinator for the Patriots in 05 and they finished 26th in the league.

Sure, with the talent the defense has they will be "okay", but I am not so sure they will be great, which they should be. Sorry, but that is a pretty weak hire.

Right, but that defense had also lost Ty Law and Seymour was out 4 games. Also, Brushi and a lot of those "veteran" type players were starting to age.

I don't think Mangini is great, but there aren't many "great" DCs available. I'd have preferred Schwartz, but I think they could've done a lot worse with what is available. It's a guy who has been on the staff, so he's familiar with the system, and he brings a lot of experience, some of it as a HC. They also hired Sporano to take Mangini's old job and he's another guy who brings a lot of experience to an otherwise inexperienced HC. The Raiders TE had some pretty decent success. So far, their coaching hires have been decent and bring a lot of experience, which is all the defense really needs. It won't take a Lombardi-esque coach to get those guys playing at a high level.

Like I said, we just have to worry about the offense..

Meh, sometimes teams will protect a coach by keeping him as a position coach. That way if a coordinator gets picked off, they have a guy waiting in the wings. The 49ers could have been preparing for Fangio's departure for a while. Although usually the announcement comes a lot earlier if that's the case.

Let's face it, the 49ers weren't exactly running some exotic defense that has been baffling offensive coordinators across the league. It has been very vanilla and has relied on talent, especially on the defensive line and linebackers. Now Fangio got a lot of credit for maximizing that talent but he wasn't the guy responsible for bringing that talent in.

Please, as a Bears fan that has a glimmer of hope our defense should be better than what we've had the past few years with your "loss" and our "gain", don't trample these hopes during the off season here. *smirks*
