Tuco: I've been thinking about applying for PRX, and I've been leaning toward it, but I have a few questions.

I saw you mention that you'll be focused on PvP, but people in PRX are free to do PvE too. I want to do everything ESO has to offer, but this raises a concern. Pro guilds take a much bigger commitment, but is there a clear way to live up to that? I don't expect details to be posted here, but I mean is there a schedule of mandatory PvP events for PRX, a minimum number of Cyrodiil hours, or something similar that makes it clear how to live up to the standard and work around it to do PvE too?

My assumption would be that there is, considering the many years of guild leadership experience involved with PRX, but before I apply I just want to be sure that meeting the standard of expectations is something that will be clear and straightforward.

You won me over with the bit about no forum drama. I loved FoH when those boards were up, and Rerolled is meeting the old standard in analysis and theorycrafting. But you just start to outgrow some things and want a place where the sniping back and forth isn't ever necessary, you know?

Judging from GW2, the call to RvR for PRX is going to be about 90% of your play time. particularly, 6-1am eastern. 7 days a week.
not required to be online of course. but if you are online, you will basically be asked to pvp raid.

Time off to pve was given based on competition. giant leads, etc.

I would probably recommend if you want to do both equally. just follow the guild. and jump in teamspeak, when they announce, to organize the "pugs".
If I was going to play TESO, which I am almost certainly not. I probably wouldn't join. I wouldn't really want to commit 100% like that.

We're hashing out a rough outline of our approach, but we won't have solid details until after release and we see how the campaigns really play out. I can give you our general feeling, though.

We're used to the old school approach to PVP where generally the world is static and once a week or so there's a huge event that changes the landscape. Most of the time we farm, PVE, go on small ad-hoc small PVP raids or whatever, but once in a while our keep will be under attack or we'll attack an enemies keep. During those times we'll muster the forces and form together in an army.

However with GW2's 24/7 battlegrounds and TESO's Cyrodiil that follows that approach we have a bit of a dilemma in that one minute is not really less critical than the other. In GW2 we set a grueling pace and spent most of the time in a high alert status because it was so competitive. In TESO I think not having server-competitions, the larger scaled map and the long-term campaign will reduce the overall competition of Cyrodiil, so we're hoping that we can maintain our professional fighting style but not burn ourselves out ensuring victory.

Sorry for the verbose answer but it's something we're considering now so it's on our minds. To answer your question directly, there is not and has never been a time requirement to join PRX and be a member in good standing. All you need to do to fit in is to conduct yourself professionally and fight in an organized and disciplined manner.

Yeah this was the modus operandi in GW2 and is something we're hoping to not repeat. Your suggestion is good though, everyone is welcome to hop into our Teamspeak and fight with us. We generally have a large number of unguilded people who frequently fight with us but don't formally join for various reasons.

Think I'll join in on the fun this time. I missed out during GW2. I do want to see the next build in action during the next beta weekend.

Edit: Glad to see you guys went AD. Rolled a dark elf nightblade first during this last beta weekend and their leveling area is just painfully ugly.

Haven't checked this thread in a while.

I find it interesting that TESO isn't the train wreck everyone predicted. Wish I had time to play, especially the PvP.

Of course, the true test will be how many people are still playing six months from now. If there is a God then he will give us another decent PvP RvR game before I shrug off the mortal coil.

I think the RvR will be seriously good at some point but I'm wary about the open ended skill system setup they have going here. I have a feeling it's going to create an extremely limited series of templates that people are going to need to follow to be effective. That and the 90-day campaigns. Ut already touched on that several times but I want to reiterate that the potential for fail is high here. How many guilds just want to wave their E-peen and purposely avoid competition so they can steamroll and "win" the campaign within a few days? Sure as hell sounds like fun to me!

I'm giving this game a wide berth even though I've been wanting a three-faction RvR game since I left DAoC. I'm just not sold on either a healthy RvR experience or a healthy game in general.

The game design is very casual friendly.

It seems the team is listening to player feedback. I'm curious what they'll do to try to keep RVR fresh and PVP relevant.

I would actually be worried about the RvR.

It sounds like it was an afterthought. I mean its a TES game. The fact the PVE is shit, and the PVP is great/good is incredibly ironic.
And more likely then not. A total accident. Sounds like it was an oversight. They put a team on it, and no one was paying attention to it. And that competent team was able to make something good without interference from higher ups.
but what does that mean for live? well, it means the RvR might crumble under the weight of popularity. it happened in gw2. they put all their focus on spvp for some reason. And failed to get the fixes to RvR fast enough. they didnt anticipate how popular it would be. Of what if they do put more people on RvR? the same people that botched pve? is that going to help or hurt?

Yes though, that .18 patch list is very impressive. and does reflect seemingly good choices, and listening to their playerbase. Can someone tell me how long that patch was, from the previous one? weeks, months?
What is the speed of those patches?

Many on the team are the guys from Mythic, though, who are known, in my humble opinion, for making the best PVP MMO in DAOC.

Just to bring the conversation in a different direction for those who don't want to quest.. Sorcerer AOE grinding.

You are spot on. Brian wheeler had one other person on his team up until last year. What he has done here with the VERY limited resources he was given is nothing short of amazing.

Too bad he wasn't directly in charge of the game itself.

Since the release of 0.17, every patch since then has been delivered roughly two weeks later.

That's a nice strat but did you catch where he said he was VR6?. He was also going into a lower level dungeon where mobs were regular level 45-50.

IMO that strat isn't for leveling up your character. That strat was for leveling up individual skills while getting some gold and crafting mats along the way.

So are the forum pals playing this now because it's actually turned out ok or because there isn't anything else? It's the latter, right?

A few pages back i asked Ut if he was going to play it. He did not answer and so I think he is in. Most of us are MMO sluts and so if nothing else is coming out we play even cruddy games. Speaking of which... did I see a new Defiance downloadable content update?

Most people on this forum who say they're going to play seem to fall into the latter. A few have said that they just really enjoy the start of a MMO when there's the rush (good MMO or not), some are going just to PVP because it's a fresh PVP game and hasn't died off yet.
