Like I said on cake I'll gladly shit all over this fucking thing if it stagnates and doesn't improve. From my seat, actually having played the game, there is enough time to release a really good game. Will it get there? Time will tell.

this wouldn't be a big issue if the game was a year or so old and still in alpha. the fact that the game has been in development for almost 7 FUCKING YEARS and still looks like shit is a huge red flag.

Anytime someone says "it's early beta" and makes an excuse for the developer, it is the developer posing as a "tester."

That site is notorious for doing that.

I wonder how much money Betacake pulls in by pretending to be a beta leak site but in all actuality, a viral site in the back pocket of the game developers?

I don't know anything about the betacake site, but Marketing is literally the business and industry of professional lying. And viral / grass-roots marketing is about as authentic as those fake SpikeTV reality TV programs like Worlds Worst Tenants.

Well, Blackwulf, either that or they saw the viral marketing wasn't working across popular gaming sites other than betacake and took it all down.

Come on Grim1, this shit happens every damn day in the industry and you know it. So kindly knock off the bullshit conspiracy excuse. It's a way of life for these industry folks. I just have fun calling it out and watching them get their panties in a bunch. It's also why I like this site, because it keeps it's integrity.

Edit: This will get interesting. The BetaCake mod said in comments he didn't get a Cease and Desist from ZO. So... That leaves two reasons. He is protecting his ass from being called out numerous times on his integrity and posing as a leak site when he is a viral site, or, tesotester fooled him into thinking he was a real beta tester, not a developer, and used his site for ZO's intended purpose.

Or, Matt Firor took some advice I sent him a few days back.

If you want people to get fired up for your game? Try transparency. This grassroots shit has been old since 2004. You are doing more harm than good at this point and look like you are trying to protect box sales. You are behind schedule. Who the hell isn't. Your team is sick of the lies to the consumer because they CARE about making a game, not the bullshit you and Sage keep putting out, which is a bunch of high level garbage.

Lift the NDA at this point and let people know you are trying. You will gain a LOT more credibility, and your team won't hate you as much.

Oh good Christ, that new forum of his has been online for about an hour and there is already a grassroots thread about what class you will play in TESO and nothing else. If anyone over there is listening, at least TRY to make it look like a normal site.

Conspiracies never last long, somebody always talks. BetaCake has been around a while. If it were a paid shill site we would know it by now.

Not really. No one really looked into it before. And there are a shit ton of fanboys that eat up that "Cake".

I will give them this though: It is a great cover for a viral site. Control the leaks, steer the coverage, release what you want to release, and at the same time generate more traffic than usual because it is perceived as Taboo.

Genius idea if you have the ethical backbone of a butterfly and are used to penetrating sites. I would rather have it there than the gaming forums.

I know absolutely nothing about Betacake.

However, therearePR firms companies can hire that will spam the comments/forums of popular gaming sites (metacritic, massively, mmorpg.com, rockpapershotgun, theescapist, etc) with positive talking points about your game. I don't know many details but it was a marketing guy I worked with (and trust) that told me about them.

Cause eating the food and buying the game. Lets you know your money and hopes for the game will end up in the same place as the food. My guess is shiting yourself with reckless abondon in some port a john with no teepee would be preferable to playing this game

I'm sorry, you're going to have to come up with some proof. Spouting this nonsense and casting aspertions on BetaCake is wrong and frankly despicable if you don't have proof. If you do have concrete proof and not just wild speculation based in fantasy, then I'll support you.

A lot of folks hold the same opinion. I was just saying it's a pretty genius idea for a viral site. Too bad these folks don't have the same amount of creativity in their games!
