/\ Ha!

The current leadership really does not instill a sense of confidence that this game will be anything out of the ordinary.
If I had to guess, and God I hope I am wrong, they are going to mass turn and burn their IP's and farm them for whatever cash they are worth. These same people hired Rich Vogel. I mean really?

What is going to be great is when after this launches, that it fails to get the 250 million back, and the goal they have of sold boxes, digtal and subs expected after launch.

Then who wants to bet just like Tortanic they dont have FTP model, Hybrid sub model ready to go which with insure monthes more of comedy gold of the train wreck.

From reading the above, it seems like there is a shit ton of crap not finished or not going to make it in by launch, namely the thieves and assassin guilds which is like the only ones worth a damn.

But the dude did have a good first impression...

But I will say that those three hours felt like five minutes because I was interested and engaged at all times. I barely made it out of the starting area, but enjoyed exploring my surroundings (which felt just the right amount of familiar) and talking to NPCs (yes, I enjoyed talking to the NPCs ... let that one soak in for a bit). It's still very much a work in progress, but I'm encouraged by how easily I dropped into the game and how much I enjoyed what I got to see.

Gamespot still needs to replace that with Zenimax rather than Bethesda.

Zenimax Media has been making some terrible decisions lately. I guess it was only a matter of time

I really hope nothing effects Todd Howard's team for the next TES. I have come to REALLY look forward to those games. Hell, I sometimes buy them for multiple platforms.

I guess I'm just way less critical then most here but I wasn't really bothered by anything in that video and thought it looked fun. I'm still looking forward to the game and I'm far from a huge fan of this IP.

I do kind of still like the idea they're putting forward for the combat mechanic of swing/block on the mouse, 5 attacks + 1 super attack for hotkeys and that's it. I find that appealing over lots and lots of buttons and abilities myself.

Nothing that I see or hear gives me much confidence that the implementation is that tremendous though.

And what was he saying about classes? You just change your weapon and you have an entirely different skillset? Like Guild Wars 2 or was there something more to it?

I like how in that video the Dev keeps talking about all the cool things the AI will do and how the AI will be different and the AI will work together depending on the situations but doesn't give one fucking example at all or anything. He basically is talking about what supposed to be one of the defining characteristics of their combat system but cant give one example? Fuck why do they have to ruin another franchise.

All these videos are 10 minutes of developer speak. Everyone here that actually believes what they are saying needs to bookmark those videos. Then when the game is launched and you play it compare your experience to what they said.

Then you'll understand my point of view from the EQN thread from a month ago.

Well, to be fair, in the video I watched, he did show an example. In it, he said the mobs will group together (team-up) and attack the person with the highest threat. /groundbreaking.

I accept zero promises about AI. They are all laughably terrible in every game I've played. Scripting is where it's at.

here's one about crafting:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Ed2VZXMJo8Y

A generalist can learn all 5 skills but not as well as a specialist, you can experiment by using additives, there's a synergy between skills so an enchanter can add buffs to your crafted sword, and smiths start with their racial style, e.g. elves get elven armor, but then can learn the other racial styles somehow...
Also they talked a bit about progressing by adding skill lines from other than your class for example from joining the mage's guild or getting the vampire skill line.

SWTOR also gave me a good first impression, at least until the second planet.

I even enjoyed some of the dungeons besides the first for each faction.

The skill tree in this game sounds kind of fun, at least.

Another article:http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/03...iew-paul-sage/

It just sounds that they used the 'throw everyone at the wall and see what sticks' development style. I mean you can't communicate cross faction, until you hit 50 and go 'try out' another faction then you can talk to them but you'll still be cut off in Cyrodil it seems. Also if whatever faction you picked is sucking in your particular campaign (which lasts from 3-6 months) the dev's can 'open up an influx of new toons' somehow to your faction/campaign and hope they help you out in pvp. Ugh, i'm sure that would go over well with the other 2 factions in your campaign.

It sounds more like they have no idea what they are talking about
That's the problem itself! They have zero idea wtf they are doing, they are copy/slap pasting whatever seems "good" on paper and hope the legions of fanboy's eat it up. If they had a clue they would have more info content to present instead of rebooting the project 18,000 times.
