What I posted about 2-3 weeks ago.

I have heard that the console versions will be launched in the fall of 2014 along side the F2P conversion already being built as we speak.

But...

I wouldn't be surprised with how shitty the game is that they hurry up the 2 console versions, switch it to F2P earlier, to sell more boxes to make a profit and say to hell with it.

Hold yer horses - I still have a few months of avatar freedom!

Not to mention, if anyone can rig a release for a major studio, it's IGN. I have faith in their corruption.

So, 300k testers in the last beta weekend. Only a few hundred people complaining on forums. That's good, right!? Seriously, though, they sound pretty confident, I'd like to see their survey aggregates.
Hahaha

You are now known as the Iraqi Information Minister version of Captain Edward John Smith

Yeah the bet hasn't concluded yet and won't for five months!
Oh well. At least I knew my hunch was right on pushing the console releases to cash in on the box sales before bad word of mouth gets out on the PC version and the casuals don't touch it.

Course, next gen are also starving for games to play, so they may be taking advantage of that as well.

Can I do a short hi-jack for folks on this thread with Skyrim experience. Couple questions,

I've got the base Skyrim , zero expansions , Amazon has them on sale and legendary for 20. If I'm starting 100% new is it better/worse to start with all the expansions or no different ?

And actually playing Skyrim I'm curious if you can go long playing without pausing and chugging potions and so on. I'm much more into mmo's since EQ came out and I just can't stand pausing the entire game ad naseum to drink a health potion in middle of a fight and so on. (Just have seen a lot of videos where the action is constantly interrupted with this).

If you're starting new I'd say just go vanilla with or without the DLCs.

And I rarely use potions, I think in Skyrim they're pretty underpowered.

As far as pausing the game the worst pausing in skyrim is because of looting. There's an autoloot mod that loots gems/potions/gold that severely reduces the loot time.

Go with all the DLC and mod the shit out of it.(see skyrim mod thread in other games section)

Back on topic I went healer with resto staff it was the worst combat I have ever seen, even though I could snare kite/DoT and kill just about anything.

In Skyrim I like two kind of playing styles: one is full caster, which means healing spells become cheap and you'll use them on the fly, the other is stealth/bow with some limited magic (basic heal, illusion spells, etc.). Healing and magicka/stamina potions are the only ones I ever touch and very rarely at that, consider that you can hotkey them through the "favourites" menu. They truly are for the oh shit moments.

Basic game with or without DLC, then start modding like crazy. High res textures are a must.

Skyrim is better with some mods. Definitely want a UI mod for pc. Steam has bundled some decent mod packs. The DLC doesn't break the main game at all, that I noticed.

On another note: I just realized that my school is on spring break the week of 4/4/14. Don't be jealous, popsicle.

I'm a fan of vanilla plus the PC UI mod. Honestly its really not that bad without it. I just don't like to MOD game play until I see the actual version first. Then, on a second play through, grab the mods you think you might like. Plenty of content for 2 plays and more in Skyrim.

Amazing how you can have such an awesome template and completely fuck it up. TESO is a special kind of fail.

That's exactly why I prefer to play a Heavy Armored character who uses Two Handed Swords and Restoration Spells.
Key skills are Enchanting and Smithing because they will help a lot (especially with magic, fire, cold, shock resistance).

Why Two Handed? Heavy Damage; you can annihilate your enemies fast (and I love the fatalities).

Once you get your Heavy Armor skill up and with proper gear you can take a lot of damage. This is when Restoration School comes in; you will never need healing potion. You just switch to your Healing spells when you need that and then back to your Two Handed Sword/Axe. I hot key my healing spell to "2" and my two handed sword at "1". But then again I'm always a reckless player who loves to charge enemies and wreak havoc. Certain Shouts are excellent for this kind of character setup.

re: playstyles, some of the most fun I've had playing skyrim was to get mods that turned off the world map and the compass, the mod that starts you in random places instead of putting you through the prisoner quest and playing with a hardcore/dead is dead playstyle. It makes for a very immersive experience, and I've found the best playstyle for that is sneak + archery.

Much appreciated for the tips , glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't want to pause every 4 secs in a fight for potion chugging. I may try your route Laura , that sounds fun. Also leaning towards trying it with the high res pack and not much game play changes for first time (don't see a pc ui mod on steam but I might just be missing it.)

I'm not against modding, and actually think that every game (including mmos) should have that option. But if a gameneedsmods to be fun then I personally consider it to be a failure.
