Corn is a garbage vegetable for poor people to fill up on. It has no nutrients and just scrapes your intestines for hard shits.

It's also the most terrible version of Mexican food called Tex-Mex. We don't eat that garbage in San Diego. I don't think I had any corn other than ground up for tamales or tortillas in Mexico and we own property in San Felipe. I spent many a week in TJ, San Felipe, and Rosarito.

How do you feel about using Masa Harina to thicken food?

a_skeleton_03 is totally wrong about sweet corn and Noodle agreed with him so that's proof. I don't like discussions of "authentic" Mexican food either. Wherever you go in the southwest and I believe this is also true in Mexico, they have their own styles and variations on their meat, beans, chiles, and tortillas. Just because something is different than what you grew up on or what you think some poor person is eating in Chihuahua doesn't mean it's wrong. I realize this is the fast food thread, but open your minds people.

Also, don't eat at Chipotle. There is poop in their burritos and and they are selling a bunch of moral bullshit that isn't true and they don't live up to themselves so fuck them.

Corn is generally just good in lots of stuff. Like its not in traditional ramen but even the Japanese have kind of embraced having it in there.

I dig corn in ramen as well. Not something I get every time, but it does generally add quality to the ramen.

Chipotle is delightful and you can take your food moralizing bullshit right out of here. Poop? Who cares, it tastes great. No one buys that shit (lol) because of the moral bullshit.

Qdoba > Chipotle

Also, I tried Buddy's Pizza for the first time yesterday, supposedly the originator of the square "Detroit-style" deep dish pizza. Was okay.

I went to the Warren branch tho, not the original Detroit location.

I thought the pizza was pretty bland, but I had to compromise with some picky eaters on the order (just had pepperoni). Next time I go I'm going to try the Sicilian pizza.

a_skeleton_03 is right though. Corn is the poor man filler.
A good test if you have pets is to use normal pet food which #1 or #2 ingredient is corn. Then switch to high priced food such as beyond. Watch the litter box/yard crap cut in half literally.

Also thanks for all the Chipotle replies. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow my van is pissed it got to 17 last night and won't fire.

I'm actually not a huge fan of corn in ramen since I find it gives a really unexpected texture for me. But I also get the appeal of it. I'm sure if I ate ramen more I'd enjoy the change of pace corn offers.

This high-end ramen usually has 4 or 5 pieces of corn:

Have you been to Ramen Yamadaya in Costa Mesa? That place is very solid. You can get fresh garlic cloves and a crusher. So good.

No but a place which is pretty popular in Costa Mesa / Huntington area called Shin Sen Gumi opened a location in Irvine. I tried to go but I was starving and it was a 40 minute wait. Which is fine because I went to First Class Pizza which is in the same complex and their pizza is top tier. They use those really dry almost paper like pepperoncini on the pizza and its the business.

Though I've always heard if you want ramen in Orange County Costa Mesa is the place to go. Its just Costa Mesa is really damn crowded even by Orange County standards :(

Has to be said

All corn tastes the same

I know you're joking, but it really does! Once it's slathered in butter and/or mixed into other dishes, it all tastes the same (i.e., butter or the dish it's mixed into). Who eats plain corn?

I sometimes eat sweet shoepeg corn (off the cob) steamed with just a little salt added. It tastes somewhat different than the southern style creamed corn that I grew up on. It wasn't that shit you buy in the can with a thickener added in. The corn is passed over a bar grater while still fresh that busts up most of the kernels and sheers them off of the cob. It was usually cooked with bacon drippings as a flavoring which I suppose would be the stand-in for butter there.

Unfortunately living in Indiana I can indeed say certain corn does taste different. But then again I eat it on the cob with very little butter and no salt. Most corn is good, but sometimes the farmer market sweet corn shit is unbelievably good. It definitely shows why corn syrup is a sugar replacement.
