The pedal drive is sweet, I have the Mirage 360 on mine. The pedal drive itself is $900 but well worth it. Fighting a paddle while you're trying to fish sucks ass. I do want to get a trolling motor kit at some point though.

Friend has a much smaller and lighter kayak she bass fishes out of in the DFW area lakes. She sent me a video once and she had a trolling motor on it. Looked dangerous as hell hauling ass on a tiny kakak.

It's heavy but I just backed the truck up on a dirt road that went into the lake and pulled it off the truck straight into the water.

Yep, as long as I can back into the water it's easy peasy.

Use the same support on my truck for the kayak. Normally just back down a dirt road that ends into the lake, just leave the truck there while fishing. If I get lucky I don't ever touch the water, not that it matters. Bed is a little shorter since I have a toolbox. Just put a flag on the back of the kayak and moved it several hundred miles on the interstate. Never an issue.

TheBeagle TheBeagle popped out to my local pond yesterday and surprisingly caught another catfish on the fly. Think I'm up to 5 now, and they're always a fun surprise. Had kind of a ned rig style fly I tied bumping bottom.

Not near as big as the one you caught, but was still fun.

The Mexicans had just mowed the entire area so hence all the grass when horsing him up onto the bank.

Plant some spice and then when they cut it and drag your fish on shore it will be pre seasoned. Duh.

I bet that's a lot of fun on a fly rod!

Took the kayak out for an overnight on the Brazos River below Possum Kingdom dam. Caught my personal best fish ever. A 40" flathead catfish. Pound for pound this beast fought harder than anything besides a shark that I've ever caught. So much fun. Also caught a big ass drum on the ultralight while I was trying to find some bluegill. That was a nice bonus fish for the trip.

That drum looks like he can't believe you caught him on ultralight gear. You can see it in his eye. Please no, don't post that pic on the internet. My bros may see it!

I took the week off to head down to Padre and do some fishing from the kayak offshore. Currently drifting back to the beach from 5 miles out with a nice signal so let's post a couple pics!
Day 1- Hit up a platform about a mile from the beach at Mile 5 of Padre Island Seashore. So much action and I wasn't really prepared. Everything has teeth out here and I got my line but off A LOT by some sea monsters. Even had one straighten out my snap swivel. Once I got everything dial

ed in I was able to land a nice Jack Crevalle. Fuckers have so much fight, took me 20 minutes to land him and he took me and the yak for a ride. Caught a nice Cobia as well but couldn't get him in the boat.

Padre Day 2: Went down the beach 35 miles and camped and fished. Trolled a couple swim baits about a half mile offshore and caughtht a couple King Mackerels. Those dudes took me for a ride! Hit my rod with 20# test so I had to let them do their thing and wear themselves out while I pedalled like a mother fucker to keep from getting spooled. Bunch of dolphins in the area and one in particular was pissed that I took that guy out of the water. Once I got it in the boat this dolphin did laps around my yak and even bumped it once. Scared the fuck out of me, a 400 lb bottlenose could easily flip me if he so chose.

Camped on the beach and fished the surf the rest of the day. Gulf sunrises are righteous.

Man that's awesome. Enjoy the fishing for the rest of the weekend and post more pics if you hook anything.

Padre Day 3 - Hit up a small platform near the shore and caught a mess of spadefish. I kept a few as they are supposed to be good eating. After a couple hours of that I went 4 more miles offshore to a group of four, larger old platforms. Water was spectacular out there, I could see fish 30' down. Caught a couple bluefish out there, but nothing else. Was so far out I was a little sketched out and pretty tired so didn't stay long.

Last full day of fishing I got a few snapper; one red snapper, couple smaller Lane snappers. Also another new species- triggerfish.
