yeah as people said the first hour is kinda boring and not much happens so fast forward if you are ready to drop out. the second half is a bit better, its like a mash up of horror video games like Resident Evil and Dark Souls. Not much of a story and its all the usual bullshit tropes and super predictable but decently entertaining if completely unbelievable.
I wonder who this movie was made for though, it wasn't scifi enough for me (no real big mysteries) and it doesn't really do most of the horror tropes that are popular with younger horror fans, especially women - Nun, Midsommar, Ring, Barbarian, etc. The movie it mostly feels like is Annihilation but a mediocre, no-depth-at-all version.

I didn't turn it off. The "reason" could have been better, but let's be fair, it could have been a lot worse too. I'm actually satisfied that it wasn't some super bullshit excuse for why this was all happening, just a medium bullshit one.
I used to not be a fan of Miles Teller, but then I watched Whiplash, and yeah, I'll give him a chance every time now. He was decent. Not much need for a huge acting range in this, but good enough.
And every time I look at her I realize how weird looking she is and her body is nothing special, but I also somehow really want to bone Anya Taylor Joy.

If they had changed the ending so that Miles and Anya blow it up while Sigourney tries to stop them but it turns out it wasn't corporate bullshit, it was actually the gates of hell and they just opened it like a buncha assholes

Just watched the trailer for this.
The part where Anya Taylor-joy puts up the sign with the chess move made me smile.
The premise seems like a mix of a romance and a video game. When I get around to using my free months with Apple I'll add this to the list.

It's a mash up of a paint-by-numbers rom-com and resident evil.
My wife enjoyed it and said it was a fun movie. I've recommended it to a few friends as a good date night movie to switch up the standard fare they watch.

This movie looks cool and had to google the movie and FoH to make sure it was on the radar
Elite sniper talk and with best of the best type movie formula but then they throw in stuff that makes it clear this isn’t a movie based on realistic drama…..door/gate to hell

There was no dear fear fuck they’re still conscious and alive and oh my god put them out of their misery they’re fucking attached to the walls as fungus
They couldn’t even give weaver a true villain comeuppance at the end just a poof copter exploded womp womp as flying not immediate you know away from ground zero but let’s fly right over the gorge
This coming out on Valentine’s Day should of been my first clue it would have gay let’s frolic and play drums together BS
They bamboozled us and it could of been so much cooler
There was no cool hierarchy build up at all!!!
Think of it like doom and resident evil for what you encounter start of the game and then end game boss

Even the end credits were lame as they tried to do some sort of James Bond flowing graphics as if they earned themselves a pat on the back as if they did a good job and probably put more effort in that than the actual movie cgi

Most people are against Drinker on this one. He's not particularly wrong, but it's not a movie worth deconstructing or criticizing in this manner.
It'd be like trashing one of W.S. Anderson's movies or tearing apart some random popcorn B movie. This is the first miss from Drinker in a while.
