Would have been better hushed up but as soon as it became public JC was pretty much sacked. You really can't let somone get away with this in the workplace even if they do present TG.

JC may be a senior citizen but he's quite hefty and is massive like 6ft 6 or something. Dude prolly could have moved though, JC prolly punches in slow motion.

Looks like the BBC who might of stood up for what was right in the end they lose the entire show "as is" they can do all they want to try and reincarnate the show but I will have no interest in ever watching it. So in a couple years time after the loss of revenue and viewership it's quite possible the people firing will be fired in the end.

Yeah nobody should have to get in a fight at work its amateurish but what's worse is some whiny guy crying over being hit by a senior citizen.
Did you read the same report we did? JC was the one who reported the incident to the BBC, not the producer.

edit - When did being 54 count as being a senior citizen?

clarkson looks a bit older than 54. hell at 55 you start getting AARP stuff sent to your house.

Popular definitions

A Pew Research Center study of 2,929 Americans, age 18+, found that they hold very different definitions of old age. Respondents under 30 said that old age begins at 60, but respondents 65+ said 74.[12]

Most Britons define old age as starting at 59 according to a survey of 2,200 people in the UK. The under 25s reckon 54 as the beginning of old age. The 80+ define old age as starting at 68.[13] Another survey concluded that most Britons define the onset of old age as almost 70. Europeans on average set the start of old age at 62.[14]

Looking at the May's and Hammond's Twitter, they both are implying they are no longer with Top Gear

James May:
"Former TV presenter only remembered for saying 'Oh cock'. Or was that the other bloke"?

Hammond:
"Gutted at such a sad end to an era. We're all three of us idiots in our different ways but it's been an incredible ride together."

BBC news just said it's understood Richard and James are leaving TG with Clarkson.

I foresee a major worldwide network picking them up and continuing the format like BBC had (censoring language, etc). I hope Netflix picks it up instead and makes it unfiltered, but that would really cut down on the total amount of viewership I think. The amount of money this show generated was obscene, I do not think Netflix would get the same return since it is behind a pay-wall and requires stable internet, some countries that could view Top Gear previously do not have this ability.

Yeah May and Hammond aren't stupid, they know to stick with Clarkson.

There's no way that a re-formatted Top Gear with a reigned in new guy as a 3rd host could ever work.

There is absolutely nothing else the BBC could have done under the circumstances. They aren't a private network, they are wholly paid for by the general public, everyone who owns a television has to basically pay a tax every year specifically to pay for the BBC and it's programming.

You would have a hard enough time hitting an employee/coworker without being fired in a regular job let alone one that's part of the countries infrastructure. They would have been destroyed in the courts and people at all levels would have been fired.

luckily they chose the safe alternative and everyone still gets fired and the BBC are going to lose tens of millions of dollars this year and turned their franchise into shit.

They don't have another option.

Otherwise it looks like "Government endorses hitting junior employees".

It would be like a doctor hitting a nurse or a headmaster hitting a teacher.

The fact it's Jeremy Clarkson makes zero difference.

Add to that if he wasn't fired you have then set a precedent so if someone came into work next week and knocked Clarkson on his arse breaking his jaw then what are you going to do? Fire them? Good luck with that.

i dunno, i would let the viewers decide. if they care if clarkson had a scuffle with one of the top gear producers they can vote with their lack of viewership.

How about you fine the fucking guy and make him pay for his actions? Instead you make Clarkson probably richer and the other guy unemployed and someone nobody wants to work with.

i think they could have easily gotten out of it, if they had just focused on that it was after work at a hotel an alcohol was involved.
if it is common to get "blind drunk" at a normal bbc workplace then they might have other problems
