One thing that going through the entirety of PoP (I skipped a lot of flags when it was live and also never did Time or Rathe Council) has shown me is what a fucking masterclass of an expansion that thing was.

After the complete and utter shitfest that was Luclin, they nailed the fuck out of PoP. There's so much goddamn content, the zones are huge (except PoWater, lol - forgot how tiny that zone is really), etc. It's amazing the way they structured/tiered it - there's group content, small raid content, full raid content, scripted events, fun lore, badass looking Gods, insanely cool looking zones (especially considering the graphics at the time) etc. It's insane how well they executed it, considering the year it was released. I know multiple encounters were broken and not functioning well, but still..just insane they pulled all this off in fucking 2002.

Without a doubt, it's definitely the pinnacle of EQ, IMO.

Without a doubt, it's definitely the pinnacle of EQ, IMO.
The content was cool but having played it on TAKP it was designed pretty terribly with requiring raids to even access many of the zones often with no small group bypass pathway on release. Having to backflag new recruits was also garbage. Eventually they added level-based access to the non-elemental zones, the 85/15 rule and backflag drops which made things a lot better.

As one of the first 3 guilds worldwide into PoTime in era on live, us top guilds beat our fcking heads against the wall for months vs an unbeatable Rathe Council. It was revealed that they were simply buying time for an unfinished PoTime.

It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. On paper though, it was an amazing raid expansion for all levels of difficulty and every guild could participate.

The flag system was a serious problem for guilds with player turnover.

mkopec mkopec [For Rallos Zek, to make sure we are all on the same page, the arena was cleared before hand] I burned him down before being overrun on SK/Rog/Wiz, it was a bit close. Since he doesn't really start with adds, I used all cooldowns that were applicable after ~50% (saved riposte till the end and made sure to have everything in front of me). They changed the way summon works, where it can only happen once every so often, no matter the amount of mobs, so the dude in the PoP Key guide said you can kite him, if needed... but not sure how that would work exactly, because you will get re-summoned eventually.
Ive tried everything so far. Only thing I didnt try is to cast the shaman PbAOE slow on the mobs which im about to do when server comes back up. Ive tried using a shield, I upped my heal by 70 more (shield and bought a master crafting mallet for the ammo slot) People in discord just tell me to burn him down, but every time I get him to about 30% I just get overwhelmed with adds that hit for 400+. He is slowable, but hes not the problem, its the goddamn 100 adds, lol. Cant really kite because like you said, you just get re-summoned eventually into a pack of 50 mobs.

Stats in ammo slot don't count, unfortunately. I might be unlocked by now, so can help in ~15 min if needed.

I honestly don't even remember many adds and I'm same class combo as you. Was easy just cleared pit started encounter. After getting ported to pit i just pulled him to corner and killed.

Snares and teleports, he just crushes me when i try to move towards him, he ends up teleporting before i get there, making trying to move to him useless. If i try to heal while getting pinged he out damages me.
Sorry I don't know, I've got over 600 in all resists and he doesn't stick anything on me but some useless curse

There is a possibility of instance spawning issues. I had a double spawn of a certain flag mob yesterday in Torment. Literally just 2x stood on top of one another. Curious if you were unfortunate to get double adds.

Kiting is an option w/ the new changes to summon. I dont know your class other than shaman, but i play SK/ROG/SHM and I kited, from probably 50% onwards, used infectious cloud, counterattack, leechcurse disc. Everything. But your mob count sounds wonky. I was getting 6 adds per 'wave', so if you didn't kill them, they'd certainly pile up, however not 30 at once. That's bugged.

Anyone found good Augs, except the one posted already?
All I've seen is the Lump of Pus (HP/Mana/1 HCha). The info about the augs from the custom encounter is out there though (tried to spoiler it, but not working), but afaik, no one has been able to complete it.

I’ve never done PoP and only did about a week of luclin so I’m quite behind! Working on flags and we’ll see how it goes. So far so good into the t2 stuff.

Yeah, I probably understated the issues the expansion had around launch.

I'm looking at it more within the context of the year it was released and then the eventual "fixes" to a lot of those issues. It was just really well done in how it was "structured", the thematics surrounding all the Gods you saw sketches of in the OG manual finally being realized in-game, and how amazing all that "progression"/scripting was in an MMO in 2002.

So is elemental and time as we feared, where the server is shifting to a duo setup if you aren’t at the top 1% of the best builds to solo? I’m seeing a lot of talk about the difficulty of TZ, Xegony, Rathe Council, etc and I’ve yet to hear of Quarm solo being common. Such an odd shift since everything vanilla through Luclin was relatively easy soloable minus 3/4 and 4/4 Seru, but even that 0 or 1 Seru wasn’t that bad. There is no such player selected scaffolded difficulty for elemental bosses or Time.

During the dev interviews prior to release, the devs stated that progression content would always be soloable. However, progression to GoD would not require Elemental god kills or Quarm, so they felt comfortable increasing the difficulty of those encounters.

From what I've seen with people having difficulty with content is that it has a lot less to do with "meta" and more the fact that people have pretty average gear.

There are very few outright shitty builds, unless you're just doing something totally off the wall. But as long as you stick with a "core" trio of tank/heals/DPS, you should be fine up to PoTime. Xegony and Rathe Council were the only rough encounters for me and Rathe only because I had never done it. I knew roughly how the fight worked, but didn't realize you could split them out 1 at a time. I tried doing the whole root thing before realizing you just need to root enough to split out 1 or 2 and the kill them.

The thing I hated about Elemental planes other than PoWater is they require so much goddamn clearing. Especially Earth and Air. For that alone I'll probably never touch them again.

Thanks. That’s reassuring. I’m not top 1% I don’t think, but I am geared BiS through Luclin and could clear all content, minus advanced Seru, with ease. I was afraid that I’d have to duo everything elemental +, which is a server killer for me. Sounds like maybe I won’t, which is great. Clr/mnk/berz
