My take is that college is useful, but so many of the classes are wastes of time/money. Most people finance college so you're paying for retarded classes that we don't need just to keep some humanities professor employed. I did biological sciences, why did I need two history classes, history of rock and roll, multiple english classes, etc. I'm sure I could have knocked 1.5 yrs off my degree if not for such stupid classes.
welll... it depends how the prof runs the class. There are a lot of boring fucks out there. Oh sure, if they are a specialist in X and you really want to dig into X, well it's good for you. But if you just want a class that delivers aoe c2, you have to hunt those down, seriously. I took a class on St Augustine, just St. Augustine. Professor was a major scholar. BUT, he also ran a great class, and I do not regret one second of that class.
But you know how that is, right? So I would counter, it is partially on the student to hunt down the solid classes. I'm sorry your humanities professors were weak sauce.
But as Augustine would wonder, did the classes suck because they sucked, or did they suck because you sucked, you wanted it to suck?
This is the famous "stolen pears" analogy. As a boisterous youth Augustine had stolen some pears. Years later he realized that his crime was not that he stole the pears, but that he wanted to do something, anything, that sucked. He did not even want the pears. And that, he realized, really sucked.

But these places still are fuckin messed up. THIS is like a Himalayas of fuckery. Enjoy. Evidence entered, your honor: suggestion, nuke it all.
A Student Mob Took Over Bryn Mawr. The College Said Thank You
Anyone who sought to attend class, go to the dining hall, or even turn in schoolwork was denounced as a “scab,” and often faced acts of bullying.

edit: jeez. google "stolen pears." I swear on all that is holy I actually have that info in my head. Thnx to the late Dr. Peter Manchester for the pre-intrawebs infoz.
edit 2: I took two classes with this dude as an undergrad. He passed away 2015. But read this from his obit:
That can easily turn into a lot of BS real fast, in the wrong hands. Trust me I know all too well. All I can tell you is, there are real deals out there. And, they are not a waste and it would be foolish as society to regard them as such. That is how we turn into China. China has no art. No literature. No political science or history departments that are not propoganda mills for the CCP. But they are going to have fantastic engineering schools. Big fuckin deal, I say. Can they intelligently debate whether or not time is a place where what happens in eternity is manifest?
No. No they cannot.
