Hey all you indoor plant experts, lend me your knowledge!
I have an office in a building that has a huge atrium space. This is used for regular meet and greets, and it is used as an art gallery, too. It has a lot of natural light, as about 80% of the ceiling is skylight. It's a carpeted area with neutral walls.
We need some plants!
Someone is willing to come in once a week to "deal" with the plants, so what I'm looking for is something that is fairly large, is pretty low maintenance, and once a week watering would be sufficient. It doesn't have to flower, it just needs to be green and pretty. I think plants will really give the room a much less sterile feel.
What should we get? I don't want anything behemoth, as the plants will have to move periodically for various gallery exhibits and so forth. But the ceiling is 14 feet, the room is about 6,000 square feet, wide open, no pillars or anything, so there the possibilities are limitless.
Help a brother out.

So any idea what the hell these things are they are absolutely all over my Orchid? They definitely arent spider mite and I dont think they are aphids;
And the Orchid is dying. Flowers are really lost their intensity and leaves are starting to shrivle;
Im assuming its related to whatever those pests are. As I repotted it into fresh medium a month ago.

Fiddleleaf fig? I have a small one as I like growing things from small to large. It is slow growing but appears to take neglect well.

What time of day does this room become illuminated at its peak?
Some suggestions of mine may vary depending on that factor, I would feel bad for suggesting something that could get fried by light.
Otherwise these are my suggestions.
Snake Plant, can tolerate missing a few waterings and has the added benefit of displaying eye catching foliage that can grow taller than most people. Multiple varieties exist with different patterns. I would suggest finding one with the most green pigment to protect against sun damage.
I would also recommend a dracena, specifically the Madagascar dragon variety.
I would recommend more but my brain is tired.

Thanks, those are both great suggestions.
The room gets direct morning light, and then is bright all day due to the skylights, but many parts of it do not get direct sunlight. So lots of light, but not scorching light. Kind of the best of all worlds for house plants.

And theyre all destroyed. God damn birds ruined my sunflowers;
I have 4 more sunflowers growing in my raise bed. Any ideas on how to protect them when they start developing their flower head from birds aside from netting?
A few of the sunflowers turn out to be mutants. These should have all been russian mammoths yet a some where producing multiple, deformed flower heads;
And my lone surviving tomato plant is starting to produce flowers. Should I cut them off so it focuses its energy on growth v fruit? The thing is pretty small still, maybe a foot tall;
Any good ideas on how to deal with white flies? Tons of them on that tomato plant.

Fake owl statues are supposed to scare birds away pretty well, or you could always build a scare crow
. You should only prune indeterminate varieties, which produce new leaves and flowers continuously through the growing season. I would look up the genetics of the variety you are growing and go from there. There are a variety of sprays (that wont effect the fruiting bodies) you can purchase to remedy the issue. I would not apply any spray under direct sunlight as that will damage the leaves.

This plant is called Hoya mathilde. Hoyas are tropical succulents that cling to rock faces and grow up other trees, they are native to the Philippines, China and India. They are relatively easy to grow as well.

so i had these dead spots on my lawn, i did all the thatching, aeration, fertilizer, manure. nothing for a month. I decided to plop down some of my compost i've been diligently composting since aug, shit sprung up like viagra!
also i'm pruning my backyard neighbors plants. Not cuz i want to,cuz we have that communal trench where the water drains, but they never mow it, so i do, but their trees n shit stick out from the fence, so i just chainsaw it.

nice.
soil tests can help you determine what specifically is missing. its often a Carbon, or nitrogen imbalance, and just general fert, etc wont fix the problem.
I had something different. A few bald spots where grass refuses to grow. I decided to till it, and plant cucumbers there this year. as soon as I dig into the ground. a solid 30 grubs within 1 square foot..
Area is just infested with grubs. (japanese beetle). So, Im trying milky spore for that here.
