i watched a little bit of the miley one but got bored and left. i LOVE that the very first thing joe does says is like "whoa, wtf is up with your voice!?"

i'm thinking to myself, that is the voice of a 50 year old who chain smokes. that's the voice of someone who has absolutely NO respect for their own body. then she comes right out and says "yeah, i would do a concert and then stay up all night yelling and smoking." ha. yeaaah that's pretty clear.

it's pretty irritating hearing her opine about no one telling her how important recovery days are for singers, and that it took having a surgery that is almost exclusively done on people in their 60's who've lived an incredibly loud abrasively vocal life that have also smoked most of their lives for her to hear that she needs to take care of her physical body or it's going to just stop working. she's like, no one told me!! girl, EVERYONE told you. everyone did. i'm an amateur singer and everyone has been telling me since i was 10 to drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest before performances, and then do the same AFTER performances. the first time i sang my heart out and shredded my voice, i was like, wow i should my voice! i feel like she's the person who sticks a fork in an outlet and then goes "wow that hurts..." and then keeps doing it and then blames others for not telling her NOT to do that.

The Miley one was fine, some parts were interesting and some not so much. The Duncan one was way too long and about 3 hours in Joe is so fucked up he starts slurring and crying over The Comedy Store, but it had some good parts.

Louis Theroux is an actual old school investigative journalist..

No he's not, he got his big break on Michael Moore's TV Nation - then he started his own solo documentaries - first with "Weird Weekends", exploring wacky aspects of US society, eg Alien conspiracists, evangelicals, doomsday preppers, porn industry etc. Then his documentaries became more serious, eg serial killers. But at the core is his personality, kind of a bit geeky and someone who gives his subjects enough rope to hang themselves.

He interviewed famous UK necrophiliac/paedophile Jimmy Savile and never got close to exploring the long standing rumours about his paedophilia.

This is the type of woman that you end up associating a specific smell with for the rest of your life.

Like, "Tabasco on poached eggs always makes me think of fucking Miley doggy style"

Stale cigarette smoke, cheap bourbon, old motel room carpet. So...typical ex Disney teen.

It's not about that, it's that she outright said no one ever told her how hard she was being on her voice.

It's not hard to believe that either people at the time weren't telling her that or that for whatever reason she wasn't hearing it.

I can't imagine what her life is like, born into middling celebrity by default, by the time she was as old as my preteen girls she was already a worldwide celebrity, by the time she is 18 she's basically the 2010's version of Madonna. It's not hard to believe that the insanely rich and famous teenager found herself some yesmen who were more concerned with being in the circle than about helping her career and health.

for whatever reason she wasn't hearing it.

that's obviously the answer. i guarantee people were telling her. and i guarantee she was too busy partying to listen. that's my point. i mean, i appreciate that she's open and honest about her lifestyle... when someone says she sounds like she parties too hard and smokes all night, she's just like, yes that's because that's exactly what i was doing.

my point isn't that she admits to doing all that stuff. my point is that she blames it on others, saying that she had NO idea she was destroying her voice until she had to have surgery.

Yeah, no doubt. I think the open honesty is more important than the rest. Typically celebrities just lie or downplay shit or damage control. We can dunk on her and call her a skank and whatever, it's funny to laugh at rich and famous people. But she has a tremendous amount of influence, I'd rather see her being a degenerate skank then recognizing that and at least curbing it and warning other young girls, especially if the alternative is "same except lie about it".
