Spending $20 on the other hand kinda pisses me off and that's what I'll need to do here. For a show that I'm mostly watching out of curiosity and expect to probably be irritated by fairly quickly.

The implication of the scene was that the guy held his punch but most definitely got tapped out by her. That guy doesn’t need to punch at all to beat the little girl wrestling. She’s a fucking toddler struggling against a bear. It wasn’t nuance, it was retarded.

Apple is the worst of them all. I watched Flinch and Greyhound unsubbed, months and months later got a free trial and there was basically nothing new in that time I would watch.

No doubt. The only show on that service I've ever been interested in was Foundation and Empire, and it was so full of DEI garbage that I only made it through 2 episodes.

It isn't about not knowing how to do it, 'tard.
As someone who did martial arts for 12 years, it's possible for a lightweight person to beat a heavyweight person if they can lock on a submission and the larger person isn't able to punch, throw them off, or just fall backwards onto them. So situationally, it's possible, via submission. However I saw this sort of thing very rarely, and it was almost always a lightweight guy submitting a heavier guy.
Either way, a light woman with extremely good technique and a wrenched-in submission hold could force a tap from a guy, they would just have to have that much better technique than a guy would to get the same result, and hope the guy couldn't reach their face.
I'll give Ellie's barnyard rumble a pass. I've seen way, way, way dumber stuff in the average Marvel movie.
Speaking of dumb, Devil May Cry is on my list of things to check out, but apparently they butchered Lady's character by turning her into an angry butch who says "fuck" every other word, puts Dante down constantly, gets most of the story development in Dante's show, and fights way better than him. As a huuuuge fan of Devil May Cry, I guess I'll fuckin' pass.

They were sparring. It was not a real fight. He would have slammed her into the ground full force, if that would have been a real engagement. She would have sucker punched him in the groin as hard as she could have. In reality she would need a weapon to take down somebody of that size, unless she was really great at boxing/karate. It gave her some wrestling experience with objects much larger than her. Since the mushroom people most likely are not skilled in wrestling. It allows her to understand weight and gravity dynamics, in case she has to wrestle one. I thought the scene was fine.
I guess the video game did this. It kind of sucked that they skipped 5 years. Clearly things have happened in the 5 years passed, given the current relationship between Joel and Ellie. I am also guessing nothing really exciting occurred against the mushroom clan during that time, hence the need to pass 5 years.
I hope they show a little more around how the town sustains itself. That is a lot of people to keep alive with farms and livestock. I suppose they might raid nearby cities for things like ammunition and medical supplies.
The show/game states that the epidemic destroyed 60% of the world population 20 years after the fact. That does not correlate with how they present the environment. It does not feel like 40% of the human population is still alive. So that feels off. It feels like about 90% of the population was killed.
The part I am looking forward too is how apparently the mushroom people are evolving intelligence. That would change everything. Either it would make for a much worse scenario for humans or give way to the possibility of compromise.
The show is good enough to watch.

Maybe being effected by the organism led to side effects? Even if she was immune to them, perhaps there would still be "some" changes. Maybe she is stronger than the average human. Not super strong but just stronger. It could explain her personality of no fear, and bitch mode all the time. Even her looks could be explained away as a form of Cushing's disease.
