Not many liked the story of the second game, this was already expected. They also apparently rushed everything thing and made the story even worse.

I wouldn't be surprised if they killed him off so quick because the fuck is in everything and can't deal with his schedule

The bad guys walk out in the end. Why does Ellie and Joels brother and whoever else they can muster get on some horses and ride these fools down?

What bugged me about Joels death.

Shooting the murderdoctor was a totally justified act. That what made it such a great episode, he killed like 20+ people and every one of them absolutely got what they deserved. But when his captors get all high and mighty about it like oh no you killed my daddy, he doesnt bother to mention why?

Also. Literally 5 minutes before Abby captures Joel, Joel saves Abby's life from a pretty terrifying horde. Then she turns on him, and he doesnt bother saying "hey bitch I just saved your life?"

Dude acted like he got caught doing something wrong and deserved to die.

I dont object to major characters dying. But his attitude made no sense.

He does say that he saved her life. But I completely agree. He didnt try to defend himself with why he did what he did or even try to defend himself when she comes at him with the golf clubs. If Im gonna die Im gonna go out fighting, not let some kid club and punch me to death.

That's a pretty simple minded view of the morality of the story. Sacrificing one person for the salvation of humanity is the rational thing to do. Killing 20 people to save one is pretty insane. We are set up to side with Joel and Ellie but both sides are in the gray here. The fireflies were going to do an evil thing for the good of many. Joel did an evil thing for the good of one. It's not black and white who "deserves" to be killed.

Sacrificing a kid to maybe possibly save humanity, without trying any non-lethal means, or even giving her a chance to volunteer? Just trick her and kill her hoping for a cure?

No, brother, thats fuckin straight up evil. Arent you a little old for edgelording on the internet? Sad.

The episode where Joel killed all the murderdoctor people was one of the purest expressions of heroism depicted on television.

Eh to be fair Abbey said if he tried she would have Dina killed and he wouldn't have a reason to not believe that. Joel sacrificing himself for one of those two is totally in character for the show, he had no advantage and they all had weapons.

IDK if making this happen faster in the show will hurt the narrative or not since noone really liked it anyways. I expect we will have stuff with Joel throughout the season regardless, specifically Ellie finding out Joel lied and whatever happened with Eugene. Like I don't HATE it, I thought Bella Ramsay's acting in the death scene was quite good, and I think the change to Abbeys stature really drives home that they were naive kids that fell in with the fireflys and her revenge tour was far more risky and they super got lucky. This will also help when Ellie goes off the rails and hunts them down, the only one that will prove to be an issue is the planner dude.

Also props to the team that did the supermarket scene with the Stalker. That was extremely well done, and needed since the Clicker's are not as "dangerous" anymore and having a smart one ratches up then tension and the camera work there was top notch. I will be curious if we get the Rat King in the show, they showed someone going to Seattle in the pre season trailer so it may happen this season. The infected stuff continues to be the best aspect of everything.

The scene I am most interesting in seeing will be when Tommy guilt's and manipulates Ellie into hunting them down cause he is incapable (here it will be because of the kid I think). It was deplorable in the game and I think him being fine in the show and not having an excuse will add a bigger gut punch to it if they do it right.

Joel didn't really defend his actions because he felt guilty about what he did. Yes, it was totally justified in his mind and he would do it all over again, but killing 20+ people leaves you in a pretty fucked headspace, and even moreso with how Ellie reacted toward him afterward. He had major doubts about his actions and really, what does arguing accomplish? Abby's not going to listen.

"oh well i just got got, it's my time"

"reasons" don't mater anymore

Sad. Didn’t think they’ll kill off so quickly. Brutal in comparison too, in the game he dies with the golf club to the head final shot but this went further. . As fugly as is she can act and I want Ellie to start kicking ass.

I do like the actress plays Mel
I knew her from Runnaways

Jordan the one who spit on Joel will get it first and the one who gets it worse will be Nora. Mel’s death was sad af

if it’s like the game tlou2 that is

on Ellie’s side
Jesse is going with Ellie , Dina, and Tommy but Abby gets him in the game

Pretty much. It’s like Hank not begging for his life in Breaking Bad: he knew it was pointless because he knew he was dead no matter what he said

They deserve whats coming for them for being such morons and following her for years on some dumb ass witch hunt and then allowing what happened to happen.
They were reluctant a few of them. I cannot wait for Jordan (the one who was cut by Ellie and spit on Joel and kicked her in the face as we’re leaving) and Ellie’s fight. Ya I want to see how that translates to the tv show.

Mel’s loyalty to Abby aside deserved better. As I’m certain before Ellie finds her she’ll be
pregnant
Jesse was cast the closet. But no racist but I imagine there’s more Asian actors that look like him than there are white actresses who look like Abby

This guy doesn't have kids.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have done the same for my kid, but that doesn't make it morally right, especially from the perspective of an outsider. Abbey may not even know what her father was going to do to Ellie. To her Joel is the guy that massacred what might have been the one hope for humanity, which happened to include her Dad. The show is shown from Joel's perspective, and as others have said, he obviously felt conflicted about it himself and even Ellie condemns him for it even though she doesn't really even know what happened. He wouldn't break out crying and then get defensive to the shrink if he didn't feel some kind of way about it.
