I do have headphones as it sucks playing games on super low volume setting so as not to wake anyone up. My wife is pretty open minded to other lifestyles, so I think she would just sort of playfully say "What the fuck is wrong with you" and go back to bed. I have a hard time getting her to watch tv shows/movies with even mild violence though, so no way she is sitting through this. Super Mario levels of violence is probably all she could tolerate.
I thought about trying to get her to play TLOU 1, but she would nope right out when Joel's daughter dies.

TLOU1 start is pretty rough to be sure. Was watching Strippin play it for the first time and you could tell he was trying to hide it, but that part really got to him (he has a little girl of his own, so easy to get into that headspace of realizing your worst nightmare and empathizing with that scene).
Reading up on the sequel, one post on reddit hit the nail on the head. TLOU1 was surface plot of trying to get Ellie to the Fireflies, but the actual story was Joel losing a daughter, finding a new one in Ellie, and having something to live for/find his old self.
TLOU2 is basically a “revenge is bad” story, with elements of “bad guys are based on perception”. The subtext is missing, the plot on the surface is what it is. That is why ultimately it feels less satisfying than the original and is inferior.

No one better ever talk about TLoU 1 or 2 ever being a better game than the new GoW. It combined BOTH of those stories (loss, duty, sins of the past, forgiveness, parenting) plus wrapped excellent gameplay and a semi open world around it with great supporting characters.
TLoU series, either individually or together, does not hold a candle to God of War even if you've never played the first 3 (5?) games.

So is playing the game today a bonus of having a collector's version or special edition? I just got the digital download pre-order but it tells me I have to wait until midnight to load it up. I finished early at work so I wanted to get an hour of play in before I go home.
