You guys seriously didn't beat OOT?

What the fuck kind of planet am I on. Singlehandedly the greatest Zelda I've ever played

I enjoyed OOT a lot but still haven't had a zelda game that is better than a link to the past for me and put link's awakening on par pretty much with OOT for me.

But I also don't understand how zelda games seem to get really inflated scores of pretty much "perfection"

Been following this thread closely the past few days since I returned to this site, because I've been on the fence. I think I'm going to save my $300 and get the Wii U version. It looks too damned close for me to justify a console that I won't buy another game for til Mario in a year.

Lttp certainly is better in my eyes, but is almost say OOT = lttp

I have skyward sword and heard it was really good, just havent gotten around to playing it
I just started Skyward Sword for the first time a week or so ago. I'm only a few hours in, but it's pretty good so far(if a bit shitty looking, graphically).

Man, I watched some live streams on the big TV where my Wii U is, and there was definitely a noticeable difference between the consoles that didn't really come through on the YouTube vids. In each case the Switch was easily sharper, had less aliasing artifacts, as well as better overall contrast and depth. The Wii U was looking a bit bland by comparison. I think I'll hang tight until the Switch is like $250 and has more than one game to play.

Yeah the live streams were much more telling on Wii U performance, especially going into a town or village where the fps dropped pretty badly.

Though I am reading that there was a Day 1 patch for both systems that may or may not have improved framerate.

Played for a bit tonight on my Wii U - great game so far, getting used to the control scheme but it's straightforward for me. Looks good but do notice some slowdown with lots of animation on the screen.

I was a couple of hours in before I realized the perfect dodge, time-slowing mechanic. Helps a lot. Does it only work with backflips though?

Meanwhile, in common sense land, we are all looking forward to Zelda.

E etchazz let me know what you think of it on your switch. Also, please play 8-10 feet away when docking to test because I am very curious about what happens. (I am guessing you also pre-ordered a Switch Pro Controller?)

I'm playing Zelda, in bed, and it's fucking awesome. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want this system. No, it's not the most powerful system ever made. However, it looks gorgeous on the portable screen, and the system is very light, but is solidly made and feels great in your hands. I will test out the joy con controllers on my television tomorrow. For now, like I said, I'm playing an amazing Zelda game, in bed, and it's pimpin'.

You can do that with the wiiu tablet too, but yeah, the switch is 50% lighter or so.

Well after thinking about this all day and reading up on a comparsion thread on NeoGaf i'm going to go with the Wii U version and save myself the cash. I mean when the Switch is having the same problems here in this review:

I just can't justify it.

because on general principle I refuse to pay $300 for some vastly under-powered hardware and a bunch of hokey motion shit that i'll never use. if they do a hardware refresh in two years that allows the game to be played with the performance it deserves then maybe i'll reconsider.

Buying this in a few hours, pretty hyped but also a little salty that they likely pulled gamepad inventory management to make the Wii U version worse compared to the Switch version.

Hopefully this one washes the bad taste of Skyward Sword out of my mouth. Twilight Princess was great though and Link's Awakening made my childhood. I did Ocarina and Windwaker as an adult and loved those too.

Watching streams for new horizon, then zelda, i'm seriously thinking about getting a ps4 pro.

Digital Foundry comparison between docked vs handheld modes:

Looks like handheld is the best way to play this performance wise, docked mode drops to 20fps.

20 fps? That's some sad shit. All the effort that went into making this a beautiful game, then pissing all over that effort with your gimped out hardware.

Hopefully the Wii U version is better after the patch.

Seems like the only difference between the two Wii U updates is that the newer one on the eShop is setup for DLC.
