are all humanoids in star wars supposed to be the same in terms of ageing and shit? is gravity nearly the same on all these planets?

I thought only oxygen consumption % oxygen in atmosphere would have an effect on that. Even then, species can challenge the environment evolution wise. RNG plays a role.

Def weird every planet is "perfect Earth" in Star Wars in terms of what you're getting at. Would be more Star Trek if they got too specific with backgrounds and explanations though.

Star Wars doesn't do science or explanations. Although George tried a lot with the expanded universe and novels. A lot of the technology has full scientific explanations.

I think they haven't written much in the way of explanations since the late 1980's early 1990's though. Even in the old EU they started moving away from technical details.

It's definitely a space opera and less sci-fi.

I'd like to see more sci-fi over space opera if they do a Coruscant prequel.

She posted something about the Democrats and stealing the election. It's a few things though, she won't bow to the woke mob so they have been after her for awhile. It all started months ago when she refused to put her pronouns on her twitter home page.

it sounds like harshaw is being facetious, but that is literally what started it. people "asked" her to put her pronouns on her bio and she gave a very polite "no, i'm good" type of response. then the woke army gathered and demanded she support her lgbtqo family and she took it a step further saying that every one needs representation including her droid friends (since she's on star wars and droids play a huge part) so she made her pronouns beep/bop/boop. she laughed and everyone went mental.

No. Most if not all of them live longer than humans. Yoda was 900 and thats both humanoid and frogoid. Chewie was already a hundred years old when Han met him.

Gravity varies everywhere by a little. Its just part of life for them like elevation changed are for us. I think there might be a couple of heavy gravity worlds where the inhabitants are super strong but it doesn't come up much.

I have no idea how jayreb used life span as a jumping off point for atmosphere.

yeah there's some truth in that theory but there's some problems with it too. even if we weren't talking about a science fantasy with magic and laser swords, different species simply have different life spans than others.

as far as star wars goes, species have a specific lifespan that isn't accounted for by where they live. chewie doesn't have a different lifespan hopping around the galaxy with han than the other wookies on kashyyk. humans living on nar shadaa don't have a different life span from those living on tatooine.

now, scientifically speaking, they absolutely wood. the air quality on those different planets would absolutely affect average lifespan, we see that on earth between people living in big cities and farmlands.

but again, science fantasy means it's all homogenized

Maybe George got it right and only planets with similar air composition and gravity as Earth can have life.
I have no clue though, never been to another planet.

There are probably a number of factors. I'm guessing the Star Trek series imprinted in most people's minds what other worlds were like. There's probably a practical element in so much as they wouldn't want the cast having to wear helmets/breathing devices for the majority of episodes. Pascal shows just how much of a shitstorm that can be with one actor so imagine the stink if they required the full cast to do it with any frequency.

The Expanse is about the only show I can think of like that, but the characters are also helmet off/face visible for almost the entire time

Just theorycrafting, sure - but I would imagine that if things start to vary too wildly from what's defined as a human habitable zone, then what type of alien life forms you encounter are going to be wildly different than what resembles a human. If they breathe another type of gas, then thought has to be put into what type of energy they are living off of. If the energy they are expending is in such low amounts or even super high amounts, then the form of communication they are using is likely not even close to what we would understand w/o some type of help. At least that's the way I interpret what I've read.

What Ive always been slightly annoyed with is how little effort goes into different species/aliens in media. What I mean is, even though movies/series shy away from slithering and anything other than bipedal for likely cost versus reward - games do too, and games often have the same animations available in NPC's.

I think the people on alderaan had a higher average life span. Until they all suddenly didn't that is.

I've thought about this too. I like to pretend that there's a whole other galaxy of conflict within that galaxy and they just don't cross paths because their evolution made them so different that they don't care about the same resources or communicate the same way. Kosh in B5 was the first scifi character to make me start thinking about that. With him, they were like, "welp no one knows what the fuck he is or where the fuck he came from, but he claims to be an ambassador so we gave him a room and a seat at the table."

The reason for that is psychological. The viewer can more easily relate to what they are seeing on screen--if an alien moves in a way that is entirely un-natural and looks unlike anything remotely resembling a human/animal type--a disconnect takes place and most people cant emphasize with these creatures in any tangible way.

but if your alien has big emotional eyes, has blue skin and somewhat resembles a cat person, then people will LOVE it!!!!!
