First R rated movie I saw in the theater without a parental was Die Hard With a Vengeance. I was 12. And here I thought I was old. Clearly not as old as some of you fucks.

The Matrix was the second film I bought everyone I knew tickets to go see. My first viewing was from the front row, furthest left seat. It sucked, but the movie was awesome. Surprisingly the Alamo Drafthouse hasn't had a screening that I've noticed in a long while. I'd definitely be interested in seeing it again with modern screen tech and sound. The 4K HDR copy adds some interesting highlights and picture is clean as fuck, but you can start to see the age of the CGI. Fortunately the majority of the film is done using practical effects, so it holds up overall.

I fucking saw Predator in the theaters when I was six. You'd think that'd mean my dad was cool but he sucked. Only movie I remember going to see with him.

I think the first R rated movie I saw without parents in the theater was Terminator 2. Me and my friend at the time saw it twice...his mom basically said it was cool and they let us in.

No clue how old I was when I saw my first R rated movie, though. My parents had HBO and I used to watch it all the time. Probably some horror movie. Although one R movie that stands out was that movie Near Dark I think it was called. The family of vampires that drives around in that RV and kills people. That scene in the bar traumatized me as a kid lol. Was probably 9 or so.

Alien wasn't my first (I can't remember what was my first), but it's certainly a notable one to watch when you are in grade school, at 10pm by yourself. o_O.

First R rated movie I ever saw was Poltergeist, I was 4. Never went back to that babysitter.

I think the first R rated movie I saw in the theater would have been Starship Troopers? I'm pretty sure I saw that in the theater. After that I honestly can't think of another R-rated movie I saw in the theater until I took a chick to see Queen of the Damned.

Not R rated, but I did see the 70s Lord of the Rings in the theatre.

A pretty unlikely thing to have happened, as I'd have never heard of it had I not read the books (and I was very young when I did that), it was a midnight showing which my parents let me see by myself (yeah WTF in retrospect) and it wasn't like that movie got a lot of theatres showing it.

I saw it in the movie section of the paper and could not believe that such a thing existed.

I fell asleep halfway through and thought I missed the RotK part. Lol.

Yeah, don't dive down the tranny rabbit-hole with them if you don't want these movies ruined for you. I made the mistake of watching a couple film analysis's for the trilogy and I can't watch them without viewing them through that lens.

Caught this at Alamo last Monday and it's aged well and still delivers. Too bad the same can't be said for the sequels or its creators.

First rated R movie I can remember watching was Robo Cop; I think I was like.. 6? My dad was surprisingly cool for an 80s dad.

Matrix is the first movie where I got carded ( I was 16 at the time, I think) and the manager went "Ah he's old enough" and let me in with a couple of other like-aged friends. 90's America may have been best America.
