New Swallow the Sun triple album came out. Each volume in it has its own theme/genre, Volume 1 is Death/Doom, Volume 2 is acoustic/unplugged, Volume 3 is some heavy funeral doom. I'm liking volumes 1 and 2 so far I haven't had a chance to listen to the third volume yet.

Haven't been to a metal show in years, then just saw Suffocation last night in Orlando. They are so fucking tight live it sounds just like the album. Even better actually. They played a few tracks off this of course:

Four bands opened for them. Terrance Hobbs, black dude on right, just hung out in the bar and talked to people the whole time. Dude is real cool.

Been listening to alot of Ghost lately. This is one helluva show; the sound quality of the audio is very good (after the first 2 minutes, that is).

my friend's band just made #20 on the Rolling Stone magazine Top 20 Metal Albums of 2015

20 Best Metal Albums of 2015 | Rolling Stone

Michigan blursters Cloud Rat turn tail on grindcore's neverending arms race for savagery and velocity, instead giving their tantrums a dynamic, cinematic feel that makes room for more far emotions than fury. Blasts are bookended or supported by gauzy 4AD vocals, blurry shoegaze textures, Tortoise-style post rock and all sorts of squeaks, squalls and rumbles from new electronics technician Brandon Hill. Without the mechanical precision of, say, Napalm Death or Pig Destroyer, their churn is closer to punk or hardcore ? a more relatable and humanized swirl for vocalist Madison Marshall to bark out murder fantasies that take heel or boltgun to bigots, kings and oppressors.
