just finished Solomon Kane. action was good, the cinematography was fantastic, and all in all, the supernatural was done really well.

feel;s weird that this is a movie set in 1600 AD, feels like with warlocks, etc. it should be more like 600 AD

I have to second watching Dredd. Was everything I wanted it to be really, actually liked it better than the original with Stallone. The original I liked for a different reason though, more campy, almost a comedy to me. New one is just a fun, gore laden, bullet romp.

I was kinda meh on Solomon Kane. There was some cringeworthy dialogue throughout.

I watched Dredd last night and it was pretty good. Although, after 90% of his lines I had to remind myself I wasn't watching robocop, ESPECIALLY in the scenes where is in a showdown with a bad guy and is reciting the penal code violations and corresponding penalties.

Exam was surprisingly good. It's one of those movies that is filmed in just one room - but works. The Final was a semi-interesting horror movie. Cabin in the Woods is a fucking awesome horror movie. The Bay was a rather well done "first person" type horror-docufiction show, though unless I missed it I REALLY fucking hate that they never told you what happened to the girl and the baby (you'll see it if you watch it)

robocop was directly inspired by Dredd.

I don't recall if I ever mentioned how much I enjoyedSingham(2011, Bollywood) here or not. Being an Indian/Bollywood film it is a bit different in a variety of ways, just from cultural differences and their desire to stick in music videos every 30-40 minutes, and while in many ways straightforward, there was some really great twists that were a bit mind blowing, especially the big "final bad guy showdown" climax.

Singham was great. Just be prepared for some very campy action and comedy. If you liked Super Troopers you'll probably like Singham. The only reason I draw that comparison is because they both have dark mustachioed dapper protagonists.

This movie was good until the last scene. No idea who thought that it would be a good idea to run through the entire climax, hit the denouement and deal with all of the tension that had been built up during the big scene and with their friendship and then just crap all over the entire mood of the movie by ending it with them riding around joking in their patrol car. The director basically neutered his own movie in the last 7 minutes.
I have an ID for "Brian Taylor" that I carry around with me. I was working at ISS (prop company) when this movie was being shot and I got to do a lot of work on this movie. My co-worker got invited to go watch the final scene being filmed but bitched out because the prop master kept telling him they hired a bunch of real gangbangers for a lot of the movie.

And I actually loved that movie.

Doesn't really apply to this thread but it is streaming on Netflix and some of you might not have seen it. I re-watched Drive the other night. God Damn I love that movie, when I watch it I feel like I am playing GTA and watching Scaface. Love everything about the movie.

Not sure what thread to put this in because it's kind of a well-known well received movie but I finally saw Glengarry Glen Ross last night. It wasn't at all what I was expecting. Strong acting performances by pretty much everyone in the cast but one thing that struck me was Jack Lemon's character.

For anyone else who's seen this movie did you notice a lot of very striking similarities when his character was obviously lying to Walter White in Breaking Bad when he's lying to his family/acquaintances? I'm wondering if Cranston drew from that at all.

That is actually a really good observation. Spot on. If Cranston didn't do that intentionally, it is one hell of a coincidence. Poor Shelley Leven, dude can't catch a break.
