He got both shoulders reconstructed on a whim? I have a hard time believing that doctors just sign off on shit like that for no reason, my ex had some serious joint surgeries and it wasn't just the ortho guy going "it hurts? oh ok lets do a total hip replacement if you want to". Hence the MRI's he mentioned.

You and he are probably both trolling though.
My doctor did a few xrays and mris on my shoulders. All of them came up negative for any problems. I got surgery done initially on a mostly exploratory basis due to the fact that I pushed the issue. He agreed quick enough when he saw my insurance, and he told me they always find problems, and sure enough they did. I had a torn labrum in one, and a rotator tear in the other along with numerous other issues. I had full use of both shoulders prior to surgeries (One each).

The other surgeries ive gotten done at insurance expense have been: wrist, my neck, and abdomen. All were for issues I could of easily ignored but chose not to. The only truly necessary one I've had done was my circumcision.

One thing that costs a fuck ton of money is people both insured and not constantly going to doctors describing a variety of ailments or pains in an attempt to receive pain medication.

The amount of people who go to the ER every day and try to convince the doctors there to write them pain scripts is insane, and most are not covered by insurance.

Can't legalize weed but having people with legitimate medical problems stuck behind 10 random prescription pain pill addicts in every ER in the country is fine.

Most ER's I've ever been in have had some sort of unofficial triage to deal with that situation when it occurs.

Around here we tend to funnel our pillheads into the clinics. Mileage will vary though. Not even State to State -- city to city. I guess in a big city it could be a significant problem.

Edit: If they're insured, they don't need to use the ER to do it. They can (and do) doctor shop.

I think people need to pay for at least part of their medical procedures themselves to prevent abuse by narcissists like Furry or people who take their kids to the emergency room because they have the sniffles since they are paying nothing. Some people need a little skin in the game to make reasonable decisions about this kind of thing.

why was your circumcision necessary?
Girls don't like the hoodie.

Also, I had a severe and specific rare type of phimosis. Essentially my foreskin was growing paths of hard skin around it that were rigid. Upon erection, they had a chance of breaking open and bleeding, along with incredible pain. The only treatment with this condition is circumcision. I highly suggest not getting it done as an adult unless you have to. It was far far more painful than shoulder surgery, and took nearly 3 weeks for things to stop bleeding entirely.

Don't mean to interrupt the penile and furry discussions,

But according to Snowden via his Guardian Q&A today, Congress is immune to the harmless surveillance and data collection:

"The US Person / foreigner distinction is not a reasonable substitute for individualized suspicion, and is only applied to improve support for the program. This is the precise reason that NSA provides Congress with a special immunity to its surveillance."

I find it rather strange that there would be immunity from surveillance for anyone if these programs are so free from the ability to be abused.

Ever since this scandal has broken, I've made sure my plans for creating a nuclear holocaust are public record. The only thing that keeps me up at night is worrying I will not be able to kill every child in school.

I feel like the tech-savvy people are ironically blowing the NSA's ability to monitor the internet out of proportion and the tech-ignorant people are repeating it as truth.
