I agree with most points around the world itself with lack of soul. It's like an MMORPG theme park horribly thought out with NPC's just standing there with no life or personality. This is something Bethesda has down, with behavioral AI that has NPC's on schedules tied to in game time. Sleeping, Working, Eating, Playing, Pathing, etc. Something like that would have been nice here. They also lack the depth of faction based systems and reward structure. None of the faction shit mattered. All it did was unock an ability to purchase consumables in an area/zone, and they were all the same items anyway. For example I get Faction A to the top, go to the vending machines, I can now purchase all the unlocked items, but if I go to another world/area zone, that faction has them locked down again but who cares - if I want to buy those I can just high tail it back to the faction I already max'd out because they have the exact same shit. There isn't a reason for me to do any of the other faction shit at all unless I want to see a side story play out.
There is a lack of variety for enemies, and obviously was only one boss battle and that was a boring ass typical fight with no substance.
Overall, and in the end, this damn near felt like an early access title with more of the game coming in two years.
Hopefully with the backing of MS, they realize this could be a very good baseline for a new IP, and they expand on this HEAVILY. More open world, more factions, actual reasons to care about those factions with a reward structure and negative impacts on how others in the game world view you, actual NPC behavior patterns, weather, day night cycles, something other than using unreal engine, and about 60,000 more POI's then the 10 per area they had which were all bread crumbed anyway.
But the main deal is now GAAS is now here, and we are going to continue to see more half assed projects because the main goal will be to get the game into people's hands and leverage DLC and on going MTX support to make the actual money. It used to be an Xbox or PS4 was the install base to target. Now, it's going to be using the game to target the market with DLC and MTX systems.
Sad man. ;(
