I think this is gonna be a good series, it's already better than Westworld because it has characters that are actually likeable. More likeable in the show than they are in the book even.

The sci-fi aspects are good and the tech/special effects are neat. You can tell whomever setup that firefight sequence is a fan of Battlefield/The Division.

So not trying to stumble across spoilers, but is this just based on one book? I got a feeling it was going to be multiple seasons but I'm all for a 1 season and done deal.

Also Chloe Grace isn't uggo like a lot to claim. Weird seeing everyone in love with Florence Pugh but hating on Chloe

I'm going to start reading Agency tonight since I finished this book and didn't realize the second was already released until it was pointed out in The Book House. Even searched Amazon but for some reason it didn't show up. Usually Kindle says like "yay you finished this one, now read the second part of Jackpot trilogy!" I even remember searching for Jackpot trilogy and not coming up with anything, although it was 1am and was nodding off.

Jackpot was/may be renamed and hasn't been released yet.

Clarify. Is it better than Westworld S1? Because Westworld S1 was really damn good.

Plotwise, Westworld S1 was good, but I didn't give a shit about any of the characters or what happened to them afterwards. I could barely name any of them.

I disagree. I enjoyed Anthony Hopkins, the bandit guy, the man in black and a few others.

I am liking it more than I should.
I like the mix of tech, combat, chicks and fuck you it has.
Honestly, probably enjoying and looking forward to each episode more than I was for HotD and LotR.

I just don't care about Current Era Drug Lord, nor do I see how he can be a long term threat. When I look back at Justified (the closest 'present' setting match), they constantly brought in new outside threats to mix up with Boyd, and even then, Boyd's continual survival got ridiculous.

I don't understand current money either - given the wad of cash she had to hand over for one pain pill in the pilot, 200k a week (or the 250k lottery winnings last week) sounds like literal pocket change.

I don't care if its from the books or not, 'The Jackpot' may be the worst name for an apocalypse I've ever heard.

So Cherise and the RI, where Aelita and previously alive Grace worked, are assuming that Aelita gave something to / stole something with Flynne (the events that occurred in Episode 1) and she knows the whereabouts of it and/or Aelita? Doesn't specifically mesh with their desire to kill Flynne, unless RI just isn't interested in getting it back via what Flynne may or may not know. Aelita seemed to have an obsession with the county and the model of their property and the clock. I guess we've yet to find out the RI's specific interest in that stub other than "fixing the Jackpot" or helping to heal the world.

Corbell Picket is odd but it sort of makes sense in a rural town where drug runs the local economy. I go back to my thought that there's too much going on in town and things look a little too "small city" to feel like a real backwoods rural place. But it does have to irritate him seeing all this money that he doesn't actually have. Yeah, generic drug bad guy.

Reading about the question "what is the jackpot" is incredibly unsatisfying. Imagine writing a post apocalyptic series of novels but never bothering to dream up what the actual apocalypse was. Just dumb. The real meaning was the friends we found along the way!

Shows good so far but my reading of spoilers has left me uninterested in ever bothering with the books. Book readers - have I been misled? Do they actually get into what is the jackpot in any satisfying way?

First person who gives the "androgenic, systemic, and multiplex" copout non-answer is a jerk

The Jackpot reference is a bit odd. I was unaware that the books never really revealed what actually happened. As a person from the past, that would have been pretty close to the top of the list of knowing that would have interested me. How does only a third of civilization remain? Its pretty fucking important. I kind of hope they deviate from the books and make something up. I hate movies/shows that indicate a near mass extinction event but do not bother to discuss what the event was.

That being said, I am still very much enjoying the show for the moment.

Enjoying the show so far. Thought about reading the books but I saw the final one isn't even out yet so I will probable pass for now. Hopefully the third book actually releases before they get to it. It's titled 'Jackpot' so imagine you find out about it
