Finished this up tonight and I definitely enjoyed the show overall. I liked Noah Wyle in Falling Skies but never watched ER.
Interesting overall storyline, liked the characters in general but the personalities were a bit strong or a charictature of normal folks. That didn't distract much.
If I was to give it some negatives, it felt a bit too on the nose with the lessons you were supposed to take away. Overweight folks are discriminated against, women feel threatened all the time, etc.
The mini story lines ended up feeling like a diversity bingo card. Incels, transgender sommelier, gay parents, anti mask / vax, and on and on.
Regardless, I'm here for season 2.

Easy to say that. He's a young dude who thought his step dad was superman, and he's realizing that's not true. Yeah, he was cunty, yeah that's adding to his step father's mental stress, he's also surviving trauma and loss. I honestly find it believable, even if I don't like it. That's part of what makes this show good - it doesn't shy away from shitty situations like this.

Well I'm glad I ended up being wrong about shooter stuff, I'll put it down to being conditioned by other shows convenient writing.
You're right, they slowed it right down and were practically talking to the audience through the Slowmo doctor being amped up then crashing out. I thought it added weight, since in show such little time has passed to process. It's easy to forget that normal is still busy after such a big ordeal and I'm glad they didn't continue to up the ante.
I'll give next season a watch, interested to see where they take it and the effects of this day.

I made my post prior to the final episode, although it apparently was pretty relevant after it, too. I definitely agree to the point about it no longer being their first day making the next season a bit...off?
Also, regarding the woke shit, it wasn't all over the place, but even my wife made a comment about how annoying it was. I think the last episode with the anti-vaxxer (the 2nd of the season, the other being the lady who punched the other one) and also that bizarre speech about how every single woman on the planet is constantly in fear (have you ever feared for your life, like really feared for it? Well that's every woman with 50% of the population!) was really overkill.
Funnily enough though, after the season finished I thought it was a bit funny that the white guy, despite being in massive shit, decided to come back to save people, but the black queen who had a miscarriage was apparently like fuck those people, I'm staying home.

so they said like 3 sentences about the dude that punched the head nurse and moved on. I feel like the main writer/producer got notes to add in all the women afraid, fat people good, any vax dumb etc shit and he kept it very minimal so he could get it made and paid. Fuck modern hollywood, best show

I admit, I haven't watched the series yet. But the hype had me watching Doctor reaction videos on the first couple of episodes.
Seems to be solid on the medical side, I learned a few things listening to the Doctors for sure.
