I finally fired up Tales of Zestiria. I'm only a couple of hours in (just became the Shepherd) but so far I'm really enjoying it. It seems to have a fairly decent backstory and the game looks fantastic on PS4.

I liked Xillia but I kind of had to force myself through Xillia 2. Ludgar just wasn't a likable protagonist and I can't stand when they make the main character silent. I know it's a Japanese trope but it annoys me. I know Tales of Vesperia is pretty well loved but I only thought it was OK. It's one that I'd actually like to go back and give a second chance to but that would require digging out the old Xbox.
Worst part is he actually isn't silent, he has a few lines every now and then, they made him mostly silent for a dumb reason. The story is surprisingly decent near the end though, I liked it, but yeah Ludger is terrible. Also it felt really lazy with like all the replaying the old game areas with the same mobs and shit. The characters were kinda nice, seeing them being developped more after the first game, but there just wasn't enough new content I felt so gameplay and stuff I found boring, but I stuck with it for the story.

I'll pick up Zestiria later. There's a 60FPS fix btw, has a few minor issues, but it's 60FPS which makes quite a difference since the game is otherwise capped at 30FPS and with all the fast actions and shit, it looks kinda shit at 30FPS.

Welp, 163 hours of game time later I finished The Last Remnant at 99.9% (Missed one quest "At Hatred's End"). Now I'm gathering components for New Game Plus.

Final Fantasy Type-0? Worth it for $20 on Amazon?
The PC version I think is a lot better iirc, something something framerate/textures/motion blur. Otherwise it's a kinda neat game but not amazing, and the graphics and shit look dated since it's after all a port. I wouldn't buy it if you have other stuff to play(I know I have a ton), but if you're looking for a game, then it's nice enough. Note that it's an action RPG, not a full RPG. There's dodging and locking on shit and doing combos and stuff. Think Tales rather than FF(other than XV, which is about the same).

I got up to the Flexile sentry in 3 hours the other day. The beginning was rough as the Deprived and how quickly weapons were breaking. I think tonight will go much better..

I think I hit level 56 or something already, quite absurd.

It's interesting how much my weapons take off bosses, so used to Bloodborne where hits took off like 5% unless you were doing a special attack.

30 FPS lock! I loved type-0, however I played it on a PSP emulator. SOOOO the HD version may be a bit better.

I have been staring at that game on my PC for like a year now..is it really that good? I got it in some bundle I think. I read it has all kinds of framerate issues in the battles on the PC

Ran flawlessly for me. I thought the frame issues was only on the xbox?

Framerate issues, gameplay issues, in fact pretty much every single complaint ever on TLR is in the Xbox 360 version. The PC version fixedeverything.

Yeah, definitely dig into that game. Literally one of the best RPGs of the last generation that had a horribly flawed 360 debut. AladainAF is correct; the PC version fixedeverything.

To echo what they said, no issues at all for me other than the camera flipping around randomly in some smaller caves. That's the only complaint I have.

Only other thing I'll say is I tried to go into this game blind on my first playthrough. I made it about 10 hours before I realized there are way too many systems, hidden attributes, etc to not use the wikia page to get a handle on shit. And even then it's confusing as hell at first.

Expanding on what Khane said: The way characters develop is based upon the actions they take and the characters they are paired with (to a degree) as you will use certain "types" of abilities more with certain characters. This alters their progression and can lock you out of specific "classes" which might be the best possible class for characters. It can also alter their final weapons, which in some cases have powerful abilities attached. It is very easy, if you make bad pairings and decisions early on, to absolutely lock yourself out of getting characters to their best class and best weapon. And it is really easy to do, especially if you just leave the groupings as they are set at default. And do stuff like taking the "balanced" route because theoretically it makes sense to have everyone do everything, yeah?

Regardless, you can still beat the game with sub-optimal characters and builds, but it takes a bit out of the strategy if you do that and simply "overlevel" content.

I actually 1,000 TLR on the 360 and my god it was painful. Not just all the issues, but the progression and making sure it was -perfect-. This is certainly not a game where you want to just up and grind blindly. It's pretty complex under the hood but once you get how everything works, it seems very natural and flows very well. I have actually never played the PC version of TLR beyond a few hours because it had no trophies/achievements (lol), and since I had already 1,000 it on the 360, there was just no point, even though the PC added a lot of additional content too. I might go back, at some point, and play it through again on the PC. I've been working on Zesteria though recently. Gonna have that plat in a week I think.

I believe this is the best resource out there, Khane can correct me if I'm wrong though:The Last Remnant Wiki - Characters, quests, walkthroughs, and more - Wikia

Pulled the trigger on Final Fantasy Type-0. I do have other things on my backlog but I figured $20 was a good enough price.

It's a pretty good game, though I still need to go back and finish it one of these days. Don't worry too much about the motion blur/camera stuff Pyros mentioned, as that was mostly fixed in the patch.

It is a great game for $20. Pro tip keep everyone leveled up, do not just sit on your favourites.
If you really don't like using someone, the overnight training thing works well to keep them from falling too far behind (if you aren't playing the game in like 10 hour bursts).
