MORE DARK SOULS!

Oh, fine. Actually, not sure what to suggest - do you like JRPG's? There's a plentitude of good action JRPG's, but - outside of this thread, anyway - not many people here like them. If you do, Tales of Zestiria isn't the best, but it's probably the one freshest in memory for a lot of the JRPG enthusiasts here and therefore one of the more discussion-friendly choices.
Stop reroll ing! You'll find your groove
Finish Dank Souls ya nub! :^)
You done been PEER PRESSURED

Funny thing I noticed now after playing BB.

I don't use a shield, just 2H everywhere. When I played DS1 and 2, I always went sword and board for defense. Now I'm wearing rags with a giant 2H to get those sweet rolls and sassy damage.

My playstyle is so different because of BB. And I'm so much b etter at DS2 now..

Need to buy that DLC, speaking of BB.

Also Crone don't be a fgt cum on

Lol! Ok ok! Kids are napping and I tried out Gauntlet and picked up Just Cause 3 from red box. Both decent games I'll finish eventually.

But I put dark souls back in and loaded that up. I was peer pressured!

Edit: and the kids woke up 10 minutes after I started. Oh well. Farmed up enough souls to get my humanity restored. Will be in a good spot to press forward next time I can play.

About the Shadow of Mordor comparison: it isn't even close haha. Dragon's Dogma is open world in a similar vein, but a much larger open world, with very distinct areas and stuff that is clearly too powerful to be in certain areas scattered around. Like running into a goddamn chimera, at night, while hoofing it through bandit lands. Oh yah, full day/night cycle, which is actually important for parts of the game. Cannot talk about Dragon's Dogma enough; one of the absolute best games period of the last generation.

Yeah hyped about replaying it on PC without the shitty framerate from the PS3 era. Sadly the game was kinda too much to handle for the console and you'd get massive FPS drops using certain skills or if you looked directly at particles based shit(like when a dragon breathed on you).

Now there's some negatives about the game, but overall it was really great and the DLC was a really cool addition for a more challenging experience. The base game is kinda too easy in most areas(though once in a while there's some big motherfucker that takes a while until you figure it out).

Most comparisons to other games fall short, because it's really kinda its own thing. It has Dark Souls vibes but doesn't really play like Dark Souls, it has some Monster Hunter components but other than those it's definitely not Monster Hunter, it's kind of an hybrid of the 2.

Open world with very few limits other than doing the first few story quests to unlock the main road, day/night cycle with actual dark night(running around at night is pretty awesome in the game, especially if you're an idiot and forgot to stock up on oil and run out half way), class system(but you can change in town without losing progress, in fact you want to lvl some side classes for passives and shit) with some really cool unique classes like Magick Archer and Mystic Knight, tight combat controls but with more freedom than Dark Souls(can cancel some animations, less locks, faster, more impact/hit stun on your attacks), can climb on fucking monsters so you can poke them right in their fucking eyes instead of just hitting them in the knees and on that subject, lots of cool big monsters to climb on, can build a little party with NPCs so you can do typical RPG stuff with the tank cleric mage archer or whatever you like(sadly they're fucking annoying when they talk, hopefully though this will be modded out), kinda meh story but has some semi decent characters, has a really cool endgame dungeon with the DLC/expansion thing.

I didn't get the bloodborne Dlc because I'm In the middle of like 20 games lol. I have so many fucking unopened games too.

If I get to it I'll buy it, otherwise I'll get it later. Plus will they release additional Dlc?

Also I need to start over since I'm on ng.+

Its one of my favorite games of all time though, that's for goddamn sure.

Also crone, look into getting the ring that only reduces your hp to 75% when hollow. I basically play the entire game as fully hollowed because fuck from soft with that stupid fucking mechanic.

I guess I didn't fully explore this area in the vanilla dark souls 2 or it was just added, but what's the deal with the soldier's rest bonfire? I believe I thoroughly explored over there. Got a couple weapons, had to fight about 5 turtle dudes and a phantom but is that it?

Also after Lost Sinner is the desired path still to go down to the black gulch next?

Ugh, I hate the Gutter/Black Gulch. Easily the worst part of the game for me (I hate not being able to see anything). I always do that place after Lost Sinner, Iron Keep, and Brightstone.

I didn't mind that area just like I didn't mind that poison 5FPS area in Dark Souls 1, name escapes me now.

Sounds like Shadows of Mordor! That game was pretty freakin' sweet! I 100% that game, because it was so fun once you had all your OP combat abilities.
I was the exact opposite. I thought the early part of Mordor was really fun then you got so much OP shit you could neglect almost all the mechanics of the game and just 1-man rush an army. It got tiresome.

If I really thought about it, I would probably agree that the funnest part of the game was in that middle area where you had some, but not all your OP abilities. Although for some reason it never got old just slaying so many Orcs. I'm pretty noob though, and so I would still die sometimes from getting overwhelmed or whatever, so it was usually always challenging when you were facing an entire Orc base. lol

Dark Souls is pretty much making me want to give up gaming entirely and just accept that I'm an old ass bastard that sucks at games now. I could hide my inept gaming ability regarding first person shooters by just saying I wasn't into them. Enough agreed with me that it was easy.

But now I'm getting my ass handed to me by an RPG, albeit the hardest RPG series created, and I feel like a dumb shit.

I'm at the area right at the Persuers first encounter where he gets dropped by the dragon. That killed me, but ok, expected. He's a boss. But right before this it's the 2 guys with a spear. The guy throwing fire bombs at me. The exploding barrels that indirectly kill me. I've died at least a dozen times, and it's just getting tiresome now. I can understand to some, this would just invigorate them to keep going. Be damned, I'm gonna beat this! But for me, makes me just want to quit because it stopped being fun and turned really tedious, and I'm literally a few minutes into the game.

Do you have the bonfire right next to that spot?

You can pull just one spear guy at a time into the bonfire room and kill him, then do the other one.

Ive never beaten or bothered to try to beat pursuer when he drops down there. I dont even think theres a bonus reward for that, so dont bither with that at all.

The key youre missing isnt skill, its patience.

Yeah, I do have that bonfire. Was making some progress, and was up to 4500 souls because I would kill the spear duo, then the archer and turtle dude but was having some trouble with the 3 dudes up top of the roof. Wanted the loot up there. Finally do it. Die to the last guy. Lol.. Then I come back and I fall off the ledge at the archer guy and die. 4500 souls lost. Sigh...

7-8k souls lost in this one area alone and counting. Haha. Patience is something I'm lacking I suppose. I'm so used to Diablo games where it's just charge in and kill shit.

lack of patience caused me to quit Dark Souls after like 3 hours. I felt exactly like you Crone.
