I thought at some point they explained that Talos was all (or mostly) former SpecOps guys.

Regardless, they were innocent. You could also argue that Jai Courtney's security guards were unnecessary casualties. Sure, they fired back at him, but he initiated contact. They were just providing security. Is their boss an asshole? Sure, but that doesn't mean they deserve to die.

How is that really any different than his encounter in the mountains with the FBI/SEAL team tracking him?

It helps when you're writing characters that they're consistent. When they have a set of principles, they don't just abandon them because the writers were lazy.

Oh, and I did want to mention something I forgot from that Drinker review above; that intestine scene. God damn was that fucking brutal. Can't say I've seen something like that outside of horror movies, which are intentionally ridiculous.
Yeah, I'm not saying it was actually justifiable, just that is what the show wanted you to think since they made a point of mentioning it was Talos security. It's a simple show -- if you're part of Talos then you're evil and should be double tapped in the head.

They really should have wrapped things up before the last episode because it did get pretty dumb.

Just finished this and thought it was fantastic. Just a cut below Reacher. The end made laugh how he kills his friend and then just takes off on his sail boat. Looking forward to season 2.

I enjoyed this more than Reacher. It got me to start Jack Carr's sequel books and his podcast.

By the end of the series he's not really a good guy anymore. His motives are sympathetic, but I thought the series made it pretty clear at parts that he crossed the line. He does restrain himself at times, but he's a full on vigilante using terrorist tactics.

I listened to book 2 on audible and it goes in a different direction. Minor story arc spoiler.

Its still a thriller, but it's a redemption arc at the same time.

Jack Carr's podcast isn't bad if your into that sort of thing. He's was a Navy Seal sniper for 20ish years before becoming a writer. It's a mix of military guests, old buddies, other writers and off the grid/survival type stuff.

No news for a while but glad they didn't abandon this. The trend of big gaps between seasons needs to die.
  • Prequel Series - Dark Wolf this year, filming completed last October according to Jack Carr insta a few days ago.

  • Proper Season 2 - True Believer starts filming in March according to Chris Pratt insta, likely a 2026 release

Maybe a trailer and media ramp up isn't too far away.

I assumed this show was dead. This is great news.
The show any good? Sorry I don't typically read back through an older thread for a show in case it might be good and I don't want to spoil it. I guess when I just see something and you guys say hey this is great news, I'm assuming it's something I might want to check out.

I thought it had some promise at first and was enjoying it but it devolved into silly conspiracy and an incredibly dumb final twist. Okay action but nothing particularly novel.

I am pretty sure the paper thin plot is more of a reason for the big RT critic vs audience split. The plot of the show asks some interesting questions about the government, military, pharma and how they all shit on our soldiers, but the answer to everything is murder.

Solid tactical action, capable men doing capable things. If you like 13 Hours Benghazi, Lone Survivor etc this is up your alley. I give it leeway on some of it's weaker elements because it doesn't subscribe to the "If you kill your enemies, they win" morality. This is about revenge, the man feels wronged, he has means at his disposal and you get to follow along and see if he's justified with enough of a story to make you ask if everything is as it seems.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the fuck that dude is talking about. If you like good old fashion 80s action movies or John Wick, this show is right up your alley.

I’ve only watched the show, but I thought it was pretty good. Especially the first few episodes.

I was never in the shit by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ll be god damned if this didn’t make my tinnitus kick off in a big way.
