They should do a bunch of the Troma movies. We need a Surf Nazis Must Die reboot!

Started watching this for first time ever (watched cartoon as kid tho) - it's so much better than I've would've expected

Oh wait, reboot? If it's any less fucked it'll be shameful. Crank it up, not down

Given the state of Hollywood with their woke bullshit and strikes. I'm actually surprised they're even attempting to remake anything Troma has done.

I think this is likely to be shit and any Troma reboot would likely be shit in general. And not in the way that the original movies are shit, but in a fun way.

the origin story has already been changed.

from this

Melvin Ferd Junko III is a weakling who works as a janitor at a health club in the fictional town of Tromaville, New Jersey, where the customers—particularly Bozo, Slug, Wanda and Julie—harass him constantly. His tormentors murder a young boy on a bike with their car and take photos of the carnage afterward. They trick Melvin into wearing a pink tutu and amorously hugging a sheep. He is chased around the health club and out a second story window. He falls into a drum of toxic waste, which sets him on fire. After running down the street, Melvin douses the flames in his bathtub. The chemicals transform him into a hideously deformed mutant with superhuman size and strength.

Uhh this released at Fantasy Fest 2023 when they were looking for a distributor for a long time. Apparently it was so gorey and gross noone wanted to take the risk of losing money to the point it was going to go unreleased. The people who do the Terrifer movies bought the rights this month, that's why its finally coming out.

And its rated R, very much so

Hmmm 🤔, if the Terrifier guys have the rights for it now... I might actually give this a chance.

I never watched those movies because from what I understand it's just a gorefest. Maybe in my younger days I'd be all about it but it's not something that floats my boat anymore.

I'll happily rewatch all of the Tromo toxic avenger stuff though. Also, Surf Nazis Must Die will always have a special place in my heart, because it combines two elements of things that I love.

They're definitely gory... Probably the goriest movies I've ever seen since Dead Alive, which was considered "goriest movie ever made" and it was directed by Peter Jackson!

Yeah, if gore isn't your thing, you won't like the Terrifiers at all.

Dude I remember renting that back in high school with my best friend. Always saw it on the shelf back in the days where if you were a kid you always hyper focused on whatever cover and description caught your attention. Old enough to drive to Blockbuster, picked it up and a video game. When you read the VHS backer, it said it was the scariest most goreiest movie ever made, and lo and behold we didn't expect that it was going to be a slapstick as it was. The whole priest scene had us rolling. It's just such a fun flick.

Honestly one of the best movie experiences I've ever had as a kid. I don't mind that type of Gore when it's just silly, but nowadays I have a hard time watching stuff that's hyper realistic. Never had that problem until a few years ago, and now I can't watch that shit. I normally have to skip through those scenes.

I've thought about trying to watch those films because people are claiming they're some of the greatest new horror stuff out there, but if it's just Gore porn, I think I'll pass.

Amen...

I don't mind the slapstick Goofy gore, but the realistic pain inducing imagery, I just can't do any longer.
Terrifier is somewhat both slapstick and gorefest. It does lean more heavily to the sadistic gore side but Art the Clown definitely has his "clown antics".

This music video I think captures both his love for creating pain and chaos as well as having fun with it like he does in the movies.

The beginning is a long ass intro. Fast forward to the music and you'll see what I mean. Art's interaction with the crowd and especially the band is the typical Art personality.
