My god. Of all the things to complain about, people choose to pick apart the one aspect that actually looks decent. There's nothing wrong with the new turtle look. They actually look like... turtles.

Michaelangelo looks a little strange (I think they tried to make him look black or something) but overall, the new turtles are big improvements.

The Dorkly article is fairly accurate. I mean really. Every version of the TMNT has been shit, and shat on the previous. ESPECIALLY the one we all watched as kids. The shitstorm on giving them color coded headbands vs all red..

Also the fan edit, highlights a big problem. They are nonsensical cartoons. you try to make them "real" and they just look like garbage. Its like Godzilla. They work better looking like a cartoon character, then an unholy monster from hell.

Their speech would be limited to two words. I love that people are complaining about anthropomorphism in a movie about NINJA TURTLES. The absence of lips makes sense in the old movies and the cartoons, but can you imagine how fucking silly that would look in this film?

There are so many goddamn designs decisions that could incorporate the required motion capture (for recognizeable speech/annunciation) that would've looked better than this. There had to be some sort've redesign on the original muppet mouth, I'll give you that. But they didn't need to slap Mbutu lips on Michaelangelo to make his motion capture/animation read coherently. It's bad design (and sure as fuck doesn't look more like a turtle than the original.)
