I think this might be interesting.
I've uploaded three rar files at the following links -

Each rar file contains 3 wav files. Each wav file is a losslessly converted splice taken from an audio rip of a movie. One of the wavs is encoded in ac3, another is encoded in dts, and the last one is encoded from a lossless 'TrueHD' blu-ray audio rip.
So, 1.wav might be an ac3 encode, a dts encode, or a lossless encode. Same with 2.wav and 3.wav. Can you guess which file is encoded with which codec?
I'll post up which wav is encoded with which codec in a few days.
I downloaded them but forgot to listen to them last night. I spent most of my evening figuring out that the reason I was having stuttering on a couple of movies I had downloaded (acting the same way that the bluray ISO I had downloaded was acting, which I contributed to it being an ISO), when playing in XBMC but not other players, was due to it being in DTS-HD. Apparently Windows had somehow reverted itself from the way I originally set it up, so XBMC was having a fit. After a lot of Googling and fucking around, I finally set it up properly again and was able to watch DTS-HD just fine.
I'll tell you right now that I probably can't tell the difference between any of them. Not only can I not turn it up very loud due to being in an upstairs apartment with combative downstairs neighbors, nor do I even have any rear speakers hooked up right now, but I probably just can't tell anyway. That doesn't prevent me from buying a decent receiver and speakers, and trying to download the best (yet reasonably sized) rips. I know you're not telling me I can't do whatever I want, I'm just saying that I probably won't be able to tell the difference and I know it. I'm ok with that. Just like I can't tell the difference between 720p or 1080p unless I make an effort; once I sit down and start watching I pretty much just zone out and enjoy the show and forget the fact that I'm watching a slightly lower resolution. But, even given that fact, one day I might buy a bigger TV and the difference will be more obvious, or my seating arrangement will change, or I'll find a rich woman that wants me to service her sexually AND entertain her with quality movies. Who knows!?
Anyway, I'll give it a shot tonight if I remember, but I'm fairly certain I'll have no idea.
To Ossoi: WTF is madvr? I Googled it and it seems to be a renderer, you mentioned codecs, Google seems to indicate it doesn't work with a lot of shit, including hardware acceleration, most graphics cards, etc. It also seems complicated as fuck to set up, and probably won't work at all with XBMC, which is important for most of our HTPC setups. Care to give us a little recap or something?
