Does anyone know how to automatically download and seed on a seedbox? Through some RSS function?
I saw someone earlier saying they do that. I'd like to know how.
Well, the torrent site has to have an RSS feed to start with, obviously. The only one I use is the one that BTN has, and you can configure it however you want pretty much from within BTN. Essentially there is a big list of shows you want it to notify you of, which you can add to or subtract from any time you want. You can also specify things like resolution (I use 720p there), file type (mkv for me), release type (scene), etc. On the page with all of those options is a link to your customized RSS feed. You copy that, then go to your seedbox and, assuming you are using rutorrent, go to the RSS manager and simply paste it into a new feed, tell it to auto-start downloads, tell it which directory to download to, customize if you want a particular ratio group or upload speed group assigned to it, etc. The only tricky part is the filter, which has some incredibly complicated (for me anyway) syntax, but all you need to know if you set up the feed properly is that the following code means "all, regardless of upper/lower case":
Now, other sites simply have an all-encompassing RSS feed where every single torrent that gets uploaded goes through the feed. Obviously you don't want every one of them auto-downloading, so that's where you have to figure out that fucking filter so it will only do the ones you want. Honestly, that's beyond me, but Google will help a lot. I do know that it is incredibly powerful and you can have it do most of the sorting I mentioned above, but I'll leave that to you because fortunately BTN does all that shit for me.
So, pretty much find out if they have a feed, then find out how much you can customize it from within the site itself, copy it into your seedbox, and then filter it further if needed. That's basically it, minus some details I mentioned above.
