i simply dont expect it to be as good as season one.
It won't be, with that attitude!

colin ferrell is good, but he isnt MM good.
A high bar has been set, but give Ferrell a chance? At least let the show start before you start proclaiming shit?

Although, I will admit, before you've actually gotten to see a show may be the most educated commenting you can manage. Because we know when the show starts...

It wasnt until the last couple years that MM was considered an incredible actor, he was alwsys thought of as that surfer guy ect but then did DBC TD ect

He was always a great actor. His "problem" was he did great movies mixed in with rom-coms. He stopped doing the rom-coms and now people are paying more attention to the other great roles, roles he's always played (A Time To Kill was released in 96)

Matthew McConaughey - IMDb

There are more than 1 or 2 good movies in his filmography list. You are right that he did that whole "stoner hearthrob" schtick in a lot of his movies but he also played some roles with a lot of chops. People just remember the rom-coms more. I agree that he had a certain image because of that, but he didn't just suddenly start playing good roles recently.

He might of been is a couple good movies or stuff like Reign of fire, but it wasnt crazy acting going on in those films. Farrell has had a bunch movie where his acting was fantastic. They both have just not done very well picking films

Well I'm not gonna argue a subjective point of view. I agree, people have had a certain opinion on MM until recently, and yes Farrell has done some good work too.

Finally finished this. I had stopped when it was current because I felt they were annoyingly, intentionally slow at parts like that shit in A.I. where the director has the camera pointed at a blank wall for 5 seconds. So I shelved it. Came back, watched it all. Solid show. 5/5

The first film I ever saw with McConaughey was Lone Star and he was good then! (I think we already got that conversation... maybe over Dallas Buyers Club?).

I was just going to say, Lone Star, great movie and he is really good in it. He was pretty good in U-571 and Frailty as well. I think he just got typecast and said fuck it, why not? The money was good I'm sure. It isn't like the rom-coms he made weren't "good", they were just aimed at a very particular audience. ie not us.

I actually watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre he was in at the theater. For the role he was given, we all thought he was fantastic at it (not that we knew who he was at the time beyond Dazed and Confused).

I think Farrell can be really good(In Bruges, Tigerland) I just can't buy him as a cop, although I hope I'm wrong. The bigger question is whether VV can play a straight, non-comedic role. Maybe he's capable buy I can't remember one. I'm hopeful this will be good but I'm in wait and see mode.

I seem to remember Vince Vaughn playing a pretty convincing shady weirdo in Clay Pigeons. I haven't seen that in a long time though, so I could be wrong.

If I remember correctly, Vince Vaughn was very convincing in his bit part as a salt of the earth farmer in Into The Wild. Also, I have never seen the almost frame perfect remake of Psycho done by Van Sant, but he is supposed to have been very good as Norman Bates in it.
