Who gives a shit about some blue haired dude named Ninja? Any of us on here streaming with Drake and Travis Scott would pull in those numbers even if the game was bingo. The shit talking Drake and Travis Scott were doing was hilarious.

First, Ninja is incredibly good at the game and is regularly around 100k viewers by himself. No one else on twitch comes close. Shroud on his best was maybe 50k ish? So no, any of us could not pull in those kind of numbers. Also, the stream peaked at 638k last night. Dude at one point pulled down 90k subs from last nights stream alone.

If he normally gets around 100k views then you have to assume playing with Drake added the difference. So yes, any of us playing with Drake would rake in huge twitch viewers.

It's super interesting. Here I was thinking we've crested the battleground wave with pubg and fortnight but if fortnight is that much more popular than pubg then it was totally off my radar and signals this is just the begining of BG fuckery. Should be interesting.

So fucking funny how fortnight essentially pulled off the most successful pivot in video game history. Looking forward to Sea of Thieves completely garbage binning their core game and moving to a team at sea ship BG, now that's something I'd play.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't some of the devs from pubg help create the Fortnite BG? It seemed almost an afterthought that they tacked on bg portion of the game. Fortnite the pve portion pulled solid numbers the first few months, but died pretty quickly once people realized the end game was no where near done.

I don't think so, maybe the poached some? I know the pubg devs caused some drama early into fortnites bg pivot about the engine they were using or something. PUBG dudes came off as giant assholes.

player unknown is the guy that did DayZ, then daybreak hired him to consult on h1z1, which he then went off on his own and did PUBG. Fortnite doesn't have anything to do with pubg iirc

Earlier this week, Epic Games announced the PUBG-inspired, battle royale variant of Fortnite, its long-in-development sandbox survival game, would be released for free on consoles and PC next week. This development isn’t sitting well with the team at Bluehole, the developers of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, who use Epic’s Unreal Engine to power the early access megahit. A press release issued by Bluehole this morning suggests the team is contemplating “further action.”

“We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG’s development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game,” Bluehole’s Chang Han Kim said in the press release. “After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.

PS: can't wait to see Drake and Lil Wayne streaming with Brando

This is incorrect. The team behind Unreal Tournament pivoted to create the BR mode in Fortnite.

Also, this right here is why Fortnite is killing PubG

Fortnite is just easier to play than pubg. Its like an arcade game compared to a simulator. Add in the fact it plays tons smoother, has a unique building aspect and quicker matches.

I can definitely see the appeal to it over pubg and i don't like BG games whatsoever lol

yeah, fortnight is f2p so thats part of the huge appeal, and its multi platform and they just launched the mobile version which lets you play against PC and console players (yeah I dunno how the fuck it would work from a gameplay perspective either).

There is a lot of fuckery behind the scenes. Epic makes the unreal engine, which PUBG uses (an older version, UE3 I think). Unreal Engine 4 is a fairly new edition and there aren't a ton of games using it, like Lawbreakers, Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5, Gears of War 4, Sea of Thieves. Some big games but a lot of unreleased games. Usually one of Epic's engines is considered "gold" when they self publish a big game. Fortnite originally started as a PVE/coop zombies game, thats what you still buy when you buy the $$ version of the game. Then after PUBG got huge they released their own BR version, shut down all their other games last month and now are focused 100% on making Fortnite BR the absolute best. So PUBG is definitely shook, they kinda feel like Epic helped them porting their own game to Unreal Engine and then quietly stole a lot of ideas (and devs) to make a better version.

I think this is still just the beginning, the rumors are that Red Dead Redemption 2 and Battlefield 5 may have Battle Royale modes which will be a pretty big step in AAA getting into the space. A RDR / Old West version of Battle Royale could be insanely cool.

ya this is what I was talking about earlier. To claim that fortnite 'stole' pubg ideas is the saltiest shit ever.

I suspect every game being worked on now is discussing how to implement a BR mode of game play.

Ninja will make over a million dollars this month before he gets raped by taxes, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's over that after taxes as well with all the donations and stuff
