"If the hypersonic weapon is not ready for integration on the DDG 1000 at the time of the aforementioned maintenance period, the Navy may have to extend the duration of the planned maintenance period or wait for the next scheduled period to incorporate the system on the ship.”

With the newer aircraft being developed (like the B-21, NGAD), the composite skin they use is also integrated with electronics to allow the aircraft's skin (e.g. wings, tail, etc) to transmit and receive. The skin of the aircraft can be used to detect enemy systems in the area, jam enemy systems, and talk to other aircraft.

The composite skin also has become extremely effective in diffusing incoming radar to the point where RAM isn't a necessary factor in the survival of the aircraft.
