family is finally out so I can fuck around with VR today, tried to watch some porn but it was massively unsatisfying. First to watch your own videos with Rift, you have to manually edit the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\Software\oculus-oculus-video\video_settings.ini and set a path to your video files, like edit movie_dir_4 to D:\taxes\1997\audit\_done for example. It does fortunately recursively read all the files in the directory and all subdirs but just dumps them as a list of files.
Wholely unsatisfying watching any porn that way, its like going back to the 80s and watching VHS tape porn on scanline TVs, grainy and not that good.
Unfortunately pornhub's 360 VR porn player isn't recompiled yet for CV1 so I can't run it, I tried for a while to browse to the website in SteamVR but I just can't figure out the UI inside steamVR web browser, and there is no web browser with Oculus as far as I can tell
I paid $14.99 for Virtual Desktop on steam, since the steamVR desktop is just fucked for me. Works a little better but running videos inside of it projects them onto a IMAX sized screen inside your headset, so you end up looking at 80 foot vaginas and dicks and its a bit too scary for me.
all in all Oculus Rift so far is the equivalent of Virtual Blue balls
Virtual Desktop is pretty good for old games though, I was able to run Tomb Raider DE on it and it looked decent although I'd still prefer to play on my gSync monitor. So far the only true VR game I have enjoyed is Eve Valkyrie, I'm waiting for the next version of Elite and I think I'll like that too.
