So I am glad I haven't attempted to play a game with 9th with all of this incoming changes soon to arrive.
I have to ask tho, how often are these changes? Do these changes superceded a codex for X faction in newer editions of the game (Example 9th edition custodes codes rules and faq are no longer with 10th edition released)?
3rd edition came out in 1998 to give you an idea of how frequently GW milks people for more cash. They keep edition changes rolling out just frequently enough to distract people from the fact that they're a bunch of trashy scumfucks, but not so often that your udders start to chafe.
It came down to the last turn. sukik
Custodes fought valiantly but the new Chaos codex proved supreme . Holy fuck the new possessed marines are so nasty!
Chaos barely won only with 1 die on turn 5 and sukik
didn’t have CP for a reroll command. Otherwise the game was his. Those are the best games that come down to the wire. We spent time catching up on the rules. None of us had played much of 9th. The rematch is next week!
Uh no not in this case. I was just being nice to sukik
. Custodes would have easily won by turn 3 but he is new and didn’t know to charge the enemy HQ and charged the demonic shitters instead with his HQ a mistake he’ll never make again lol. This allowed the possessed to methodically kill his Praetors without HQ help.

we all talked after the game. He rolled 3 terrible dice rolls that were 1’s and 2’s back to back. That and not having his HQ in to fight was the only reason he didn’t mop up and win. Custodes are sick. I play the same army Friday with GK and I’m going to just teleport my palis on top of the possessed and engage turn 2. That’s probably my only shot.

I've been watching a lot of recent Battle Reports for Custodes (2k point games), and all of them have Trajenn, Shield Capt on Dawneagle Jet Bike, and a Blade Champion. Seems like a lot of points invested into HQ, but all three units just mash.
Again I am new to tabletop in general, both kill team & actual 40k tabletop, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Speaking of which, with the units that I have bought, this is kinda what I've come up with my 1st 2k Custodes army using the Battlescribe App.
If anyone has any feedback on it, feel free to PM me.
Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike [10 PL, -1CP, 180pts]: 6. Peerless Warrior, Auric Aquilas, Salvo Launcher, Stratagem: The Emperor's Heroes, Tip of the Spear

I had a head cold and was zoning out looking at my data cards and didn’t see him charge the wrong squad. Even with all of that he only lost by one die. Next game I’ll pity Chaos.
List below. In retrospect, probably not bad. But I don't know what I'm doing. I'd gone through the basics with regime playing the Imperium tutorial missions the night before, but that's the extent of my Warhammer table top experience. I still don't have most of the rules down. Things like stratagems, CP, leadership, unit coherence, spell casting etc, I hadn't been exposed to until we started playing. I think the game was about 4 hours because I was brand new and my opponent hadn't played much since 8th. It probably would've taken longer if Regime's bro hadn't come a long and ushered us through a lot of the rolling, which sped things up a lot as the night went on.
All in all I had fun, but I was confused a lot. I'm going to spend some time rolling through the imperium scenarios on my own and watching some recorded matches to get the game components down in my head before playing again.

100% right there with you man. I've played two kill team games and I'm nearly utterly confused in each single one of my first few movements/actions of my characters. I think a game or two more and I'll feel comfortable with it. The hobby shop I play at has a kill team night and the guy, and a couple of others, that runs it help train up us newbies.
Doing a full on blown 40k tabletop game really intimidates me too. I would really like to pair up with an experienced Custodes player to do a 1k 2v2 (500 points for everyone) so I can learn this shit.

I was kinda like this the last time I was into Warhammer. My army was Dark Eldar, whom I chose simply because of how cool and interesting their lore was.I had their codex, the fictional stories about them and their homeworld hooked me alone.
Though amassing enough time and money to build a proper army as a early teenager? Nope. I could barely complete two painted figurine.
This week is a great reminder to always bloody magnetize.
I just have to remember that I don’t need to magnetize/paint all the options at once, that the bits they can sit in my bins for when I need them.
I had taken Paladins with Hammers to counter his possessed. Unfortunately I failed my charge. Everyone assumed the game was over right here. He charged me and killed 3 palis. Absolutely devastating.
However I got to attack back. I had 16 attacks with hammer hand (Str 8 dmg 3 ) and landed all but 4. Then I got to reroll wounds and got 10 wounds. He rolled only two invulnerables and the entire unit was smashed.
In Turn 2 I was able to charge my strike squad into his other chaos Space marines squad.
SS killed entire squad but he had some extremely op CP2 command card that allowed his heretics to fight even after they were killed. Luckily I had two SS survive. The 3 remaining Pals charged his HQ and annihilated him. It was something like 8 wounds Dmg 3 per wound. He saved only one. His chaos lord had only 3 wounds left due to my shooting phase. Game was over simply because his Accursed Cultists couldn’t hold more than one objective.
