Seriously?
No.

Those boxes are always good value boxes, but they are not inexpensive.

I would imagine they would be around $250, but you are probably saving over $150.00 if were to buy each unit with in the box individually.

If you are just starting out, get both of them if you have the means to do so. I am not a Chaos Space Marine player, but I would imagine that those two boxes combined are well over 2k points in total.

Hell no. I had around a 1k Necron army back in college when they came out, and after painting and playing a couple of games, sold it to a coworker and made 100 bucks or so profit.

It was just a pain in the butt finding games, and a lot of the guys playing weren't necessarily folks I wanted to hang around with.

I still like reading about it, and enjoy seeing the stuff people paint though. If they ever did a true to computer adaptation kind of like what magic did with arena, I'd probably be all over that though.

I got too many other hobbies, and nowadays I'd rather be out fishing.

Kill Team is a much smaller, faster, and more game interactive game than 40k. Including the pre-game setup, games should be longer than an hour and a half once you get use to playing.

And the point of entry into the game is significantly lower than 40k as well.

Yeah I checked it out some after you had posted stuff about it, it looks fun and I agree that the barrier to entry is pretty minimal.

I was playing another game with a buddy after I moved back to Texas and I don't even remember what the hell it's called, but it was a different universe and it was kind of the same thing. Small little teams battling it out. The models were kind of Japanese anime inspired. Only played like one or two games and then ended up moving from the area. But they were all five or six different factions and I picked one that was supposed to be British with robots or something. It was pretty fun, but I don't think it's got the number of people playing it that Warhammer does.

Its not that the whole version isn't fun and I want to say maybe I was playing third edition, and I enjoy just painting my models and customizing my Army, I just rather go buy a new fly rod nowadays, or another firearm. Instead of painting I can tie flies.

I'd honestly like for my group to get another d&d campaign rolling. I always had more fun doing that for a gaming hobby.

Maybe Warmachine? I always wished more people played it around here.

I can't figure Kill Team out and even the GW guy couldn't explain it clearly enough, so maybe you can help?

Which Space Marine teams are legal for Kill Team?

If I get a box of 10 Infiltrators, can I build them in a way that's legal for 40k and Kill Team? Are there setups which are not legal in either game?

Nah, it's not that. I sent a message to that buddy of mine but I haven't gotten a reply back yet asking him what it was. I don't even know where the little case I had for my squad is located and the manual. I think it's in a box out in the garage somewhere.

For some reason I'm thinking flashpoint or counterpoint or something. I could be way off though.

I think I do remember the game you're talking about though we're at least seeing it in the hobby stores. It always look pretty neat.

Believe it or not, for Bespoke (kill teams made specifically kill team) Kill Teams have narrative rules.

So there are two types of Kill Teams Compendium & Bespoke.

Compendium Teams which draw from from 40k Armies to form up kill teams. Models from your 40k army can translate into playing Kill Team if they are in the compendium squad. They are quite basic, are great to dip your toes into the game with out having to committing to a Bespoke Kill Team, and with their simple rules you can focus on learning the core gameplay of Kill Team rather than your teams rules.

For Compendium Space Marines

Bespoke Teams are Kill Teams are specifically designed for Kill Team. They are quite advanced as they are mostly designed teams with a bunch of specialist, operatives that have special abilities, and the team as a whole will have a mechanic as well that will strengthen you if you use it correctly.

Intercession - Bespoke Space Marine Kill Team - For some reason Intercession is the only team that has rules for free on GW's website... they really need to do that for all teams and stop putting out these dumb ass books that get outdated within weeks of release.

Also one more note Compendium kill teams are ran as fire teams, bespoke kill teams did away with that. While there are options & limits of specialist operatives you can run.

I will say recently most, if not all, Bespoke Kill Teams have been finding their way into 40k Armies (Elucian Starstriders, Exaction Squad, Imperial Navy Breachers, etc.) and vice versa (Harlequin Box + Death Jester + Shadow Seer = Void Dancer Troupe, or 1 box Accursed Cultists + 1 box Chaos Cultists + 1 box Dark Commune = Chaos Cult Kill Team). So there is competition now for people snapping up kill team boxes for their 40k armies.

I would not be suprised that in the next edition of kill team that the current compendium will be done away with and only bespoke teams will remain, and they will introduce more teams as time goes on.

Figured it out because it was bugging me. Infinity was the game. Games small figure wise, and pretty quick. It was fun the couple of times I got together to play it. I just don't think it's real popular though. How to dig out my little squad wherever the hell they're at. I don't think I've seen them in almost 10 years, I think that's why the hell I forgot. I got it just because it was pretty cheap to get in and be able to sit and get games up and running.

Thanks, seems like they have extra options compared to 40k rules that wouldn't make them compatible?

Especially the bespoke one.

All of the KT releases have 40k rules (eventually), compendium teams don't necessarily map to 40k unit comps but come from the kits in such a way that if you have an army you should be able to throw together a KT.
