I didn't look at Leftovers as sad-porn. I saw it as an excuse for some really great actors to have complete freedom in a show that was all about how characters might react to a situation that breaks the human condition. It was incoherent & bizarre, but also euphoric. I don't recall ever once feeling sad for anyone in it except maybe the daughter.

sounds interesting, i don't really know anything about watchmen but it doesn't look like a reboot but a sequel to the comic/movie taking place ~20+ years later and normal people have read Rorschach's journal and now theres a cult i guess?

I don't really understand what this has to do with the comics at all.

Basically, it sounds like the new Watchmen will jump ahead from the 1980s and into the present day. Expect the series to focus a great deal on how the world has evolved since Ozymandias carried out his staged attack and tricked the US and Soviet Union into forging peace. How has the world changed since then?

Is the best description I've come across so far.

The concept is cool in theory, but I'd be curious if they can come anywhere close to the execution of the original comic.

i never watched it because i really hated fucking lindelof after lost and prometheus and star trek into darkness, but he was the writer for pretty much all of The Leftovers and people seem to say that was good and "stuck the ending" so maybe he learned after so many abysmally bad failures

either way this is only something i'd watch after all the episodes have aired and people give it a thumbs up or down

I hope this is good, but I doubt they understand what made Watchmen work in the first place or what it was even about.

I'm sure they will find a way to make you think that they do, fill you with hope and then disappoint greatly.
