There are just certain movies that I end up watching or putting on in the background when I come across them. Waterworld and The Postman being a couple of them. Two newer movies I also do this with are Battleship and John Carter. Which both got bad raps but I enjoy them.

I dunno if it wasn't for the board game moniker I think Battleship is fine as an alien invasion movie. Plus it's not like Brooklyn Decker is hard on the eyes either.

i saw Waterworld at the movie theater. it was a lot of fun. its only fault was it was a little bit long. knock 20 minutes off and you have a classic.

Speaking of underrated "background" movies, I fucking loved Battle:LA. Movie reminded me of Blackhawk Down but with aliens and it's fucking awesome.

Is that the one with Thomas Jane? If so I thought that was decent as well.

The lack of computer graphics is refreshing. It's expensive to film in water, so you probably won't see another like this.

This has to be the best lens to view / enjoy the movie through, good point man thanks

Postman was fine for what it was, people just got hung up on “lol he a mail man lol” and never gave it a chance. The whole theme of the movie was that for civilization to rebuild, you need communication and flow of information. The bad guy in the movie literally wants to control information so that they are the only source.

The Postman suffered from Hollywooditis. A more subdued story focused on rebuilding the nation, instead of epic showdown garbage, would have been better. Somewhere between The Road and The Assassination of Jesse James in tone.

It would have been better with Hollywoodtits that's for sure.

I enjoyed Water World for a rewatch but not really The Postman. John Carter on the other hand is one I have watched many times. Talk about a movie that shows how not to do a promotion. They should have gone with A Princess of Mars as the title and not John Carter. They should have promoted the hell out of the movie. For me, John Carter is one of the most underrated movies ever released.

John Carter is a fun movie. Due to lack of familiarity with the IP, they really needed to market it better.
