I remember a town in Maine like that decades back. This isn't even a joke, if you were going even 1 mile over the speed limit, they would pull you over and give you a speeding ticket. My elderly grandmother who was the slowest driver I knew even got a ticket and that was one of the first times I had ever seen her mad lol

The locals eventually got sick of it and forced the town to change shit, because everyone was sick of needing to drive like 5+ miles under the speed limit to avoid the zero tolerance speeding tickets.

The media rescinded their story on the MARS platform calling it currently "too murky" to tell. That video looked like a jack up rig. A boat/rig made together that when it gets there it jacks intself up enough room to work and then pulls them down and moves on as needed.

Streamer had it right he would probably be stuck there for a while. He drove through Golden Meadow to get to Lockport. I used to go through there often but not from there. Thing is there's so many canals, flood gates, flood walls once one in particular is overtopped it's very very hard to tell where the water is going and what may/may not stop it. It's a very complicated maze. Look at an aerial photograph it's all water, lots of gates and flood walls and they change/improved all the time or constantly.

Lockport getting hit with the big stuff now (~100 mph gusts): Texas Storm Chasers are there (LINK)

The guy streaming out of Houma is next to get the 100+ mph winds and conditions are degrading quickly (LINK)

The House on stilts in Grand Isle is still standing and the crazy little cam is still sending a feed in 240 (LINK)

Building the police in Grand Isle were hunkered down in had the roof collapse/blown off. Some idiot on the island was asking to be rescued. Not a chance with 5+ feet of water on the roads. Every hurricane they get evacuation orders and a small number of people stay that always say "I'll just die if I have to", and everything normally works out.. No idea who this guy was.

The cajun navy was pre posistioned and talking of starting to deploy in some outlying areas. Girlfriend getting hit by an outlier band of heavy rain in Alabama, nothing here. One of the outter bands is over the middle part of Alabama and up to Jackson, MS.

Buildings in both feeds are starting to lose roofs. The guy in Houma just had a huge roof land off 50 foot in front of his vehicle.

He mentioned earlier they were on cell signal and not satellite like some streamers. Surprised it lasted this long.

300,000 without power now in Louisiana. Population desnity gets lower as you further north, but the amount trees near wires increases on the flip side.

Just starting to rain here, no wind and real light rain. Gonzales (just south of Baton Rouge) is starting to get some pretty heavy rain.
