It's not the perception of others, its the perception I have that people are using equipment to move weight that they aren't ready for yet. All my reading has indicated that belts aren't really safety gear and shouldn't be treated as such. If I can hold off on using equipment until things slow down, wouldn't that feel better on the backend? For example, 6 months from now I'll be dreading 365+ squats and maybe then a belt will seem far more appealing.Just strap up dude. You're going to hurt yourself because you perceive others are judging you? Are you fucking kidding me? And yes, a mixed grip puts you at a much higher risk for injury than a double overhand. It also creates imbalances. Deadlift isn't a forearm exercise, do fucking farmer's walks if you want to at the end to make up for it.
It would, but my gym doesn't allow chalk and I have a very, very special deal ($25 a month instead of $50) so I'm not trying to piss anyone off. Straps it is for me man.Interesting perspective -- I've heard people argue both sides of the belt thing. I'm definitely not even remotely close to a 2.7x bw squat so I think your example is a bit off... It'd be a 180 pound dood squatting 270 belt-less for my example.
And I suspect chalk would help with the grip issue.
no you dontI do my 4x25 squats at about 75% max charge, was just 2 plates
A lot of people I know don't care about being lean, just being "big" and being strong. How come every time I visit the gym, you weightlifters are mostly fat.
Women definitely hate guys who can lift big heavy things. As evidenced by how hard it is for professional athletes to get laid. Getting to the point where you can bench press 250 or squat 315 will not make you look like a mongoloid. You will look perfectly normal and healthy.I think a lot of you guys view weight lifting as an MMO, get to the next level, lift heavier things... lets face it, most of us are desk jockeys and amateur at best athletes. We work out for aesthetics. And unless you are a fucking homo, girls do not like big bulky guys. Get lean, get a decent amount of muscle. Stop acting like your powerlifting impresses anybody.
Professional athletes get laid because they are rich famous professional athletes, those women don't care how much they can lift.Women definitely hate guys who can lift big heavy things. This entire post is a troll right?Professional athletes get laid because they are rich famous professional athletes, those women don't care how much they can lift.
I could max bench in the 225 range I suspect, I can do 185 for reps on a normal workout. My squats are in the low 200's now, but I'm weak on squat. Something I never worked on much.
But so what? How does getting more weight on those make me look better? Or perform better athletically? I do plyo and speed training to perform better athletically. I lift to add muscle to look better.

There you go.I lift to add muscle to look better.
