To be fair, they technically said Abernathy was the package. The data from last season was being sent out via a smuggled in satellite uplink. They’re not necessarily tied together.

Fair enough.

I liked this episode. Not super exciting but wasn't really expecting it to be. Ended with an interesting cliff hanger.

To be real, Season 1 wasn't knocking socks off in the establishing episodes. It was a compelling concept with compelling technology for those who had never seen much good Sci-fi-- at first, then it became so much more. I don't think anyone predicted the depth of Season 1 based off episodes 1 and 2.

Take away the blood and boobs and rape and I think Ep 1-2 are pretty lackluster. I haven't seen S02E01 in full yet but if it lacks pizazz its not due to plot, its due to it lacking pizazz. (see boobs and torture porn of the establishing episodes of Season 1 for more details on what might constitute that)

They have always been real could about how the guns work in general. They clearly have an impact and can break objects easily enough, but are more like a supercharged air soft gun when used on humans.

The best theory was that they had a highly variable firing profile depending on a decision made by the software when the gun is fired.

Shoot a host = bullet speeds up and narrrows / sharper for maximum damage. Shoot a guest and the bullet actually slows itself down and spreads out a bit to minimize puncture.

That one's a bit much for me lol. Strong start to the season but I am still salty about Maeve having spuser access to fucking everything. God damn that was a retarded story arc. Ed Harris being Being gleeful that he's finally entered the Permadeath server was awesome.

Not sure what I watched. Where was my android porn. Where was my Me Too titties.
It felt as if Scream wrote this episode.
I will rewatch later, but this time with sound to see if it improves.

I agree with most here. It was a bit on the meh side for a season premier; but if you take away the newness of the concept the last season opener was pretty bland outside of the start to the big mysteries.

Preface: I hate Thandie Newton. I have long held that she is just an ok actress but that she cannot own a role or deliver lines very well and is usually there because she looks the part.

Plot line aside, she is my favorite character in this show outside of Bernard. I find her character's discovery of the truth and reactions to the humans more relateable and nuanced than any of the other cyborgs.

I feel bad for Teddy... I don't think he is capable of quite understanding what the fuck is going on.

We also see at the end of the episode that he's dead in the lake so yes, I'd say things as usual don't really work out for Teddy

Is he the one they focus on in the end shot? I watched it twice and still couldn't tell who that was. I thought it was a female.

I think something like this is probably correct. They even talked about it looking like somebody coded all the guests as hosts for how the guns were killing people which would explain why they go from just stinging to doing normal bullet type stuff.

Wow I guess I missed that entirely. I thought it was just a huge mass of generic hosts

Why can a robot drown?

For all intents and purposes Delos made them "real". Just because they have an exoskeleton and a hardened server enclosure in their skull doesn't mean they don't need air to function. I thought it was a bit odd as well but in context they do "die" from other things, so a mass suicide or genocide seems plausible. Bernard is glitching out like crazy due to a loss of fluid so maybe sustained underwater activity short circuits something. Maybe they'll all come back to life and be zombies...

It was Teddy. We don't know that they drowned. Bernard saying he killed them all could mean anything at this point...

I still think it's all fake.

My mindfuck question is that there is no way that you can terraform and create an entire artificial sea (seriously, one of the largest efforts of mankind right there!) without anyone knowing about it.

Well if we're done with spoilers, then yes it was Teddy in the lake.

Keep in mind this was 2 weeks after the initial massacre and Ford dying. In that time frame an inland sea was excavated and all the hosts committed mass suicide, at least suicide seems the most plausible from what we know now. My guess is that they needed to be rebuilt but whether it was Bernard or Delores deciding this we have yet to find out. Regardless of what Bernard was saying Delores's monologue to the guests she was hanging seems to indicate she knows what needs to be done to realize her vision of invading the human world. All the hosts are still rigged with explosives sans Maeve I would guess.

We've seen in S1 this happening without anybody knowing about it other than saying Ford was doing some work. If all communications was down for 2 weeks how would anybody know what was happening?

They'll need some major shenanigans to make the invasion of the Human World seem remotely plausible. Unless they can repair themselves and have the logistics to supply themselves with all the high tech shit to maintain and build robots its like what? 10k robots against all of Mankind and the robots have 19th century weaponry and no knowledge of modern society.

What do you think the importance of Abernathy is?
