Good god the Delos security team. This show suffers a lot from the "cool guy" writing. There is way too much smirking in this show and it really detracts from all the reveals and big moments. There needs to be more of the hosts acting like Teddy after his "fix" when he shot the guy in the head and said "Let's go". Instead we get a bunch of lady bots who want to whisper gloat every 5 minutes.

Yeah the security guys are fucking stupid. Ruined the episode for me. Guy should have popped pretty girl in the back of the head and moved on. Timeline shit is still wonky and I gave up trying to figure out when is when.

I took from this episode that the only reason Bernard was able to be replicated is because he was manufactured not copied. Ford reconstructed his personality from memories and then achieved fidelity by taking years to tweak his responses and code to get to a perfect match based on Delores' memories. That would mean that Delores and Maeve are still just following a program and are not necessarily sentient.

Everyone else is just a copy and doomed to fail ala Delos Sr. The CR4-DL contained the backups of the hosts, the manufactured entities for the park. The valley must contain the copied scans of the humans that wanted to use them for immortality.

Not sure what happened to Ford, but it seems like he copied himself into Bernard?

Didn't Ford say something along the lines of "your sentience was an accident"? Confirming that Bernard does have free will but it wasn't on purpose.

I started counting towards the end but there was at least 3 times the mercs ran into melee combat when they had firearms only to be murdered in hand to hand. I face palmed so much.

Well the worst part about this episode is Ford confirming that in a WW simulation that his downloaded self is fully sentient and intact. Why wouldn't they create a simulation specifically for Delos Sr. and have him run the company through a Bernard like host interface that would meet with him through a Cradle like process or a fucking terminal like looking into a WoW server? It totally destroys the concept that someone like Delos Sr. wouldn't accept immortality inside a program until they solved the issues with host transfer.

That said: good episode and I still enjoy watching even through the lol worthy security team exploits. Just fucking hire one SEAL or Green Beret to run this shit by so he can say "I would never stop to bang a hot terrorist because hot is an adjective describing the entity trying to end my life."

Another question would be

if we now have Ford's complete consiousness in Bernard? If not, why didn't he go poof when Hotty McHotterson rocked the cradle?

I think we do, maybe in a few days there will be consequences.

Anyone else find it odd that Delores seems to be everything Ford dislikes about humanity? I mean he speaks about how we are murderous and savage and shes killing and dominating everyone and everything around her. Wonder if he will turn on her when he finds out she basically killed him again.

yeah. haha.

However.. just going to point this out...
go watch John Wick 1 and 2 again.. and watch for this very thing as well.. Better cinematography and a focus on a lead whos much more convincing goes a long way.
(its most noticeable in the 7 bullet scene from 2. Where John keeps getting into fistfights with people with fully working and loaded guns, every time he needs a reload.. and its not like its him, forcing a fist fight. THEY are running up to HIM to fistfight.)

I think winning the fights goes a long way to make them more believable. When you charge in for melee instead of shooting your enemy and die well it's face palm city.

Also did anyone else notice Delos didn't save their CEO? Im wondering if these troops actually are from Delos and not a rival now.

Yes. Ive worked in a couple global billion dollar companies. The CEO's picture is all over the place. They also do town hall type things a couple times a year with video for everyone at the company.

I don't think William is their current CEO anyways, just a dude who owns a lot of shares and uses Westworld for whatever MMO quest he is on. I vaguely recall statements from season 1 where he wasn't that active in the company anymore, maybe chairmen of the board or something.

Destroying the cradle destroys all the backups of the hosts, if they "die" they are dead forever whereas before they could get their program downloaded into a new host anytime, presumably they are backed up wirelessly to the cradle all the time. That was the whole point Delores was making, now they are "free" because its 1 shot life for all of them too. BSG had similar themes for the humanform cylons.

Ford has downloaded himself into Bernard's marble sphere and both Ford and Bernard reside in his body now, presumably Ford is in control but it takes a while for him to fully assert himself. Its an odd thing to do, to go from near immortality in the cradle to being at the whims of any random asshole with a gun and who hates black guys with glasses. If Bernard dies both Ford and Bernard are gone forever now.

Unless of course in season 3 its revealed there is a cradle backup site in the park... and in season 4 we find out there is an offsite backup on the moon... and in season 5 we find out there is an offsite backup on a spaceship...

Is the valley beyond where the human minds are kept? Did Ford do an agent smith and just copy himself onto Bernard? I just can't see Ford not having backup plans incase shit went south.

Well we all know how William will make it, at least for a little while longer. His daughter will catch up to him, and they'll at least have a face to face. Maybe she lets him die or kills him at that point, who knows.

This show is really not living up to its first season. So many stupid fucking scenes.

Unless it somehow amazes me with the last 3 episodes/conclusion, I think this one will be an easy write off next season.

the valley beyond is what william (young) created, he showed dolores what it was (they were landscaping an area), (theres also something where lawrence is like, we going to some place god built? and he's like not god, me, i built it", but dolores was talking to teddy "old friend showed me the valley beyond years ago, it's not a place, it's a weapon" or something like that.
