The photo is for LinkedIn and my portfolio website, not the resume itself. It's all pretty tightly interwoven.

The company I most want to interview with places a VERY heavy emphasis on the cover letter, so I'm spending a lot of time on that. They hire less than 2% of applicants, so standing out is key. I just don't want standing out to mean quirky or strange formatting.
Having a picture on your resume is standard here in Europe, at least in Switzerland. When I first moved here I resisted doing it thinking it was weird but then I was shown example after example of resumes with photos I gave in. I've also successfully found two jobs here with a picture included resume, and had no luck before I was converted. All depends on where you live.

You're looking in the wrong places Cad. I am sure you could find a 21 year old hot bitch with giant ass and jugs starving to work for a money bags
Oh I'm certain I could hire one if I was trying. But as I've said a few times, we don't hire the secretaries. And a young hot one would undoubtedly be incompetent anyway.

The young hot ones don't get hired because the HR directors aren't young and hot.

Competence is relative to what you're asking her to do. Innuendo intended.

Right, I'm sure she's competent at dick sucking, I mean that is a basic skill as dictated by mother nature. It's the only way women can survive

I wouldn't even want a hot secretary to try and fuck her. I just want someone that is fun and attractive and competent just to make my day go by better.

I don't even see my secretary that much. She sits around the corner from my office. It's a non-issue. I talk to her on the phone a lot.

For the government service job they specifically don't allow you to have a photo with your resume. I find it odd.
Yeah, my wife's employer doesn't allow them to list their place of employment on any social media of any kind, and while they can have a public Linkedin account that lists their employer, they can't have their picture on the account(I guess to track someone down on other social media?)

Weird, because its nothing special or top secret, it's just a financial/retirement benefits company.

With all these incidents of social media shaming and companies firing employees who did stupid shit outside of work, I can't really blame companies from wanting people to keep the company name off their social media accounts. The last thing I want to deal with is a reporter calling me to ask me what our policies are on one of my employees yelling FHRITP at a concert or hockey game or some shit. That said, we don't have any particular policy on social media, but we're not a particularly large company.

Is anyone here in HR, recruiting, or otherwise in a hiring role? I need a critical eye on my cover letter before I ship it off somewhere, and it's better if it comes from someone who doesn't know my work history.

Where do you work? Chicago Fire Department, also part time in a hospital ER

What do you do? (Title/keywords) Paramedic/Firefighter

What field/industry? Fire service, rescue etc

Wages? I make roughly 100k, probably more this year because of overtime, only made about 30k at my part time job, I don't work there too often.

Bonuses/SEP? 20 years I get a 50% pension, 29 years and one day its 75%

Benefits? I work 24 hours then have 3 days off, rinse and repeat. My wife is an ER nurse, we have 3 kids and never have to worry about childcare. I get to raise my own kids. When I come home after shift there is never work to bring to home, I leave it at the firehouse

Every single firefighter I know has a 2nd job. I guess they all just get too bored with all that downtime, only working basically 2 days a week.

Actually in a pay period I work 48 hours which is more than the 40 hours workweek that is typical. If I throw overtime it is a 72 hour work week. Better to just get those hours outta the way!

Just redid my resume and sent it out to about 5 places, pleasantly surprised how many are hiring. Be sweet to get feedback from hirers here but too risky.

Also, i should have been a firefighter.

Hello All,

A friend introduced me to this site a few years back. Avid thread browser but first time posting on the site. Figured what better place to start than "what do you do?"..

Where do you work? Distribution company for oil and gas related equipment.

What do you do? systems administrator (Telecom/VOIP)

What field/industry? IT

Wages? $65K + Potential for overtime but none as of lately due to current industry state.

Bonuses/SEP? None, contract worker.

Benefits? Relaxed, stress free environment. Company allows me to shift schedule to allow time for college or certifications required to advance in the industry.
