Yeah it was BMW and it was the heating seat or some silly stuff. Isn't this practice rampant in the graphic card industry, where they just disable cores for lower tier gfx ?
"Your airbag didn't deploy because you haven't subscribed to our Care & Safety Package, only 89$ per month!"
fuck this but I guess capitalism must capitalize.
My family was always strong BMW enthusiast, but since 2010 it's been going downhill very fast. Rampant brakes problem, that damn fuel pump that breaks every 100k km, 10 years old electronics in new car, it's hard. Not sure what my next car will be.
My father stop with BMW when he bought the M5 E60. That car would consume more oil than fuel. terrible engine

It was in the news a bunch and there was a lot of backlash among journalists and the car community. But, it won’t stop them from doing it.

Those middle eastern/indian dudes will just piss money away on this.

Bought an electric car… I feel dirty. Had it a week or so pretty fun/weird to drive and looks like a space ship. Still have two ICE vehicles but the e-car is great to drive (I say grudgingly…).

I want a cheap electric Miata for commuting and weekends. Wouldn't care if it was 100 mi range at that point. But nooooo have to have fucking cuvs and hypercars only

I'm kinda hoping Tesla makes a model 3 with 2 seats and a sportscar form factor, just lower and shorter, otherwise same.

An electric miata would be awesome. I'd seriously look at it as well.

Mustang Mach-e and Crystler Pacifica Plug in Hybrid. All commuting is electric, midrange trips electric and long range is high MPG.

But first time we have american cars in our stable, so we will see how that goes.

The problem I see even if you try to go small, batteries are big and heavy so handling still going to be 1000lbs heavier than you expect

The model 3 and the BMW M4 are only a couple hundred pounds different. I'd be fine with the electric version being a couple hundred pounds heavier.

I guess, id still suspect I'd have range anxiety but that's flyover state and rural for ya

Yeah I’m a weak man - was pretty sad to see M4 go but tis what it is. Just lowering my carbon footprint (2 massive batteries at a time...)
What did you get?

Got an E Tron GT - suspension feels better than Taycan and similar power figures - plus none of the touchscreen climate control bullshit that every new car seems to have now, almost everything can be controlled with a clicky or ipod wheel. So far, really happy with it. Love the fat rear end on it.

I've had EV's going on 7 years now, the range anxiety is not a thing. Especially in 2023. When I got my first one in 2016, yea, because there were charges waaaaaay out of the way. Now they are fucking everywhere. In 5 more years you probably won't be able to swing your dick around without it getting stuck in an EV charger.

Less road trips and more an 80 mile round trip commute. I kinda assumed reduced range over day a tesla 3.

With the e motorcycles that's an issue right now I wouldn't be able to get home

Going to test drive a 23 taco tomorrow. If i like how it drives I think i'm going to get it. Limited, city slicker trim. Naturally aspirated V6, built like a tank. Then worry about trading it in a few years once they work out all the bugs with turbos and direct injection and mild hybrid systems.

Roof doesn't come down but consider a BMW i3, preferably with sports suspension option. Yes, it's kind of odd looking but I got one as a loaner from the dealer once and I was sold on it 5 minutes in. An EV that's actually fun to throw around because it's incredibly light (just under 2800lbs) compared to all these 4700+lbs tanks. Carbon fiber body means the center of gravity is much lower than you'd expect for a taller car.

Just bought one so I might be biased. I'd never get one as my only car but for commutes and general stuff I think I'll be able to get good use out of it.

I don't want to cause offence, but it's hard to overstate how hideous that is to my American tastes!

Didn't they stop producing that?

Also I kinda want a car that looks like a car and not some weird rhinoceros transformer toy.
