That article makes me angry. The kicker for me was at the end:

The school said that it was only following policy.
I don't give a fuck what the policy is. Any person who thinks it's ok to take food from a kid and throw it in the trash has no business working in a school.

Pretty much echoing what everyone else has said. If we can afford stimulus programs to provide people with cell phones we should damn sure feed every fucking kid who actually goes to school.

What if the kid was fat and the school employee felt they didn't need any more food?!

Fat privilege up in this bitch!

Little kids mimicking their shitty parents. Heard a 3-4 year old yesterday tell his mom to "get the fuck in here" when they were walking into a restaurant. And the parents did nothing about it.

I get really rustled by weight loss competitions at work that I can't participate in because there's no way I can compete with someone who's 100 pounds overweight. Fucking fat privilege, man.

Dude, if they're 100 lbs overweight, you got it in the bag. Unless you think they gained the weight just for the competition. At that kinda overweightedness, this competition is just going to be the latest in their long line of diet failures. We play dirty where I work. Bring in cupcakes and cheesecakes and shit halfway through the competition and leave them in the kitchen. I even spread a rumor one time that the cheesecake was 'diet'. Sugar Free, Fat Free, whatever they needed to hear.

Also, if you're not doing it by %, then you're doing it wrong.

Modern schools are quite possibly the most backwards institutions ever devised in the history of civics and government.

Or...

He was short $.30 for a $.30 meal. I'm thinking, this is not the first time he tried to get a free meal. I think the food service workers got tired of this little shit filling up his plate and showing up at the cash register with his account on empty. We don't know for sure, but many school districts subcontract the food service out to a private company. They are not school district employees. That company is the low bidder and there isn't a lot of room in their contracts to hand out free meals day after day. Our school district is required to feed the non payers something, but not necessarily the same meal the paying (subsidized) children receive.

When I was going to school they absolutely would not let you go without a lunch. Weren't hungry? Didn't have money? Happened to an annoying little cunt no one liked?

Did not matter. You got a lunch.

Hmm. Maybe it is due to me being older than some of you, but we definitely went without lunch if we didn't buy it or bring it. I'm not saying they purposely starved kids or anything...they just never checked. Several times I remember having my 75 cents for lunch (this was normal lunch cost, not some assisted stuff) and just pocketing it because I didn't like what they were serving. I got busted big time eventually because apparently I thought "tossed under my bed" was a great hiding place for all this money that a second grader shouldn't have. But no one held our hand and made sure we ate something.

Hell, there wouldn't have been any "stealing lunch money" bullies for people to cry about if they checked either.

Fuckin' a. There is no excuse in America to not feed any child regardless of their attitude, or parents. For some of these kids it's the only nutritious meal they will get that day.
Whoa there. Don't you worry your little bleedin' heart. Nobody went hungry. Turns out little Johnny's mom was able to make him a lunch after all and she still had money left over to replenish his account.

And who called the news and told them there was a story here?

And thanks for the neg.

Same here. I consider it my first job. It was either this, or steal those GI Joes. Later, I figured out I could do both and instead blew all that lunch money on firecrackers in the summer. To blow up the stolen GI Joes. I had a first rate action figure trauma center in my closet.
