I did, twice. I was working for myself and sending in resumes to jobs that sounded interesting. One was a contract to hire and the called me about 6 months later with a job offer and I turned them down on the basis I wasn't interested after I learned more about it and was doing contract work for myself.

I applied for another one late last year and the owner called me the night I got home from my first day on my new job. It was about 4-5 months after I sent it in.

I'll add my voice to the chorus. I didn't get the job I applied for, but about 4 months after that I got an offer for a different position with the company.

Yea I still receive calls from the state for an auditor position that I applied to almost two years ago.

Yeah I turned down a job as project manager because the project was currently in the hole over $500 million. That was a couple of years ago and they still call every few months with a new job offer with another title. They are on the 3rd general contractor and currently $500-$600 million in the hole. I think everyone turns them down based on how bad the project is going.

I met a real life thin privilege person today. The shuttle to another building at work was full and some of the crowd got left. I suggested we could just walk over because it was only like a mile and would probably be faster than waiting.

"OK, that's really insulting. You need to check your privilege, not everyone can just walk that far on a whim. Would you have said that to everyone here if I was in a wheelchair rather than being overweight?"

If my health deteriorated to the point where I couldn't walk a mile "on a whim" I would be out huffing and puffing every day until I could again. I don't understand how anyone could put so little value in their own health and physical ability.

And yes, if you were in a wheel chair I would say the same thing. Because people in wheel chairs don't want to be treated any different than anyone else. But now I know that you expect special treatment so I'll factor that in to our future encounters. Fatass.

The fact that you used the word "tosser" makes me think you're British. If that's true, then the comparison between you and this woman isn't fair because you have that tried-and-true, elbow-grease British grit that helped win two world wars. Meanwhile, her name is probably Shaniquanah and she's used to Obama providing everything for her.

Canadian actually, but I went to boarding school in England from age 12 to 18, so I have some significant cultural contamination, so to speak, and even 30+ years later a slight english accent. The school I went to had mandatory sports 3 days a week where if the weather was too bad to use the playing fields then the default was to go do a run around a set cross-country course. Its 1 degree above freezing and its raining/hailing sideways so the soccer fields are too muddy? Go do the run! Shut up, it builds character! So I got sort of used to mostly ignoring bad weather when I need to go outside, hence the rain or shine thing. If I get damp I get damp, I'm going anyway. Only time I really let it stop me are those rare occasions when its all uneven ice out there 2+ days after a snowfall, because its just too slippy to go farther than the nearest grocery stores then, and those are all within 2 blocks, 1 if I can make do with seafood rather than real meat till the thaw.

Prolly been said before, but I just don't get women who pluck theirentireeyebrows and then paint them on again - usually in a retarded place, like 1 cm above the eyebrow ridge. I mean, seriously, who finds that attractive? I mean, I get it if some women have hairy eyebrows and pluck the edges to make them more tidy, but plucking every last fucking hair? And I'm not talking about women who are into complete body modifications either (you know, have dozens of piercings and tattoos and god knows what else), but regular women who might even be hot if they didn't do that shit. Jimmies severely rustled whenever I see this!
